How Sweet! It's Liza!

I've been knitting my Shopping Club scarves and watching TV all day. Fun to watch "In The Good Old Summertime" with Judy Garland and Van Johnson (I have never seen it all the way through) and knit at the same time. OMG — at the very end was a 3-year old Liza Minnelli making her screen debut. I forgot all about that but knew it was her instantly. HOW CUTE she was back in 1949.

FUN FACT — The 1940's film "The Shop Around The Corner" with Jimmy Stewart and Margaret Sullivan has been remade four times:

1. "In the Good Old Summertime" (1949) is the musical remake of the 1940's film, "The Shop Around The Corner."

2. The 1963 Broadway musical "She Loves Me" was also inspired by the play and the film;

3. "Kadhal Kottai" an 1996 Indian Tamil-language romance film directed by Agathiyan was an unofficial remake of this film.

4. The 1998 film "You've Got Mail", with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, revolves around two people who dislike each other while developing an anonymous romance by email correspondence. The film uses plot elements and dialogue lines similar to the 1940 film, especially during the first date. Screen credit of "You've Got Mail" is given to Miklós László for Parfumerie (i.e. the play, on which the 1940 film is based). In a nod to the earlier film, Meg Ryan's character in "You've Got Mail" owns a bookstore named "The Shop Around The Corner."
