The Munsell Hue Color Test is a must-have for anyone working with color. This simple test will tell. The closer your score is to "zero", the better your ability to discriminate color hue differences.
very cool, but it makes my eyes go funny looking at it too long! will finish the test over the weekend when i haven't been staring at a screen all day1

@lluniau wow, 1520 must be someone who just submitted it in the starting formations. really?? i bet this test is a lot different with subtractive color than with additive color. the light of the screen hurts my eyes after looking too long.
For anyone who's interested, this website is quite interesting (re:colourblindness). If you click on one of the images on this page - http://www.vischeck.com/examples/daltArt.php it shows you how colourblind people see them etc
My other half can't see much difference at all with any of them...!
@raymond slightly color blind also and I am pretty sure they told me it was in the blues/greens/yellows but It is kind of a guess for me. I got 47 and my eyes are killing me and may need to close. I can see reds and pinks so that was easy.
damn! not as well as i thought! i tried it and got a 99...so then i tried again and got a 63 :( looks like i have trouble with the last set of colors...what are they, like purpleish pinkish?
maybe i'll do better on my laptop at home, with better monitor....
I scored and 8, and I will definitely take that! :) I'm surprised I did that well considering staring at a computer screen that long makes everything flickery and difficult to figure out anyway.
But something I learnt on my course (I do dentistry, so we often have to choose between several shades with minor variances) is that your colour vision when looking at similar shades deteriorates very quickly, so you need to stop and look away for a while to let them readjust. Something to consider when photographing things I suppose.
@wormentude I agree. Incidentally, have they taught you why D3 and D4 are the wrong way round on a VITA shade guide? I've always wondered that, but haven't been able to find out! Doesn't make sense to me...
Lots of squinting got me a 17. Better than I thought I'd do since I had some color vision damage from my pituitary tumor a number of years ago. I took a couple of other color tests and apparently I have about a 14% tendency to tritanomoly **Tritanomaly: This is an alleviated form of blue-yellow color blindness, where the S-cones are present but do have some kind of mutation (in my case damage from the tumor), and about an 11% tendency to deuteranopia **Deuteranopia: Color-blindness resulting from insensitivity to green light (M-cones absent or in my case damaged), causing confusion of greens, reds, and yellows.
And that, my friends, is your science lesson for the day! :)
@lluniau No. I hadn't noticed it as we tend to use a different guide now - can't remember what it's called, but it has M1-M6 and they all correspond to the Vita guide somehow. You're right though, it doesn't seem sensible.
Without my glasses and doing it a bit fast I scored a 25. I guess I don't have cataracts.
Just did it a second time and got an 8. Very satisfied - for sure no cataracts.
I got a 19 :( Thought I'd do better. Having trouble in blue / green which surprises me, considering blue is my favourite colour :) Although that WAS the first one I did! LOL - excuses, excuses!!
I got a perfect 0. My husband took it and got a 30something. The best part is that when he argues with me about color I can remind him that I scored perfectly.
44 - not great. The blue green was the one I didn't do well on. But then again, perhaps that is the monitory as I aced the others. Yes, blaming it on the computer, and not my getting older eyes.
ack! that was painful! i scored a 15... i knew a couple of them were in the wrong spot but i just could not force myself to figure out how to fix it...

That was fun! Always wondered how I saw colour after comparing cotton thread choices in a store with a flower-arranging friend...she chose very differently to me which is possibly why her arrangements are always so wildly colourful and mine are so demure! I got 8 btw and yes, blue-green was the tough bit. Thanks for posting it!
I've done this before. I find it hard because I have Irlen Syndrome, but if I dim the screen and just look at two squares at a time and compare them, then I can get 0 - or I could with my old laptop, which was Toshiba with TruBrite LCD screen. Now I just did it again on my Macbook, which has LED backlight, and it's harder and I got 12.

Well I went from 47 to 23 after adjusting my screen. and my head hurts!
I got an 8! This really pleased me because I have cataracts...30 years ahead of time according to my eye doctor (thank you to my allergy doctors for all those years of inhaled steroids for my sinus problems!!!!). It's nice to know that I am seeing what I think I see. Thanks for putting this test here!
Yes, 4. When I go to the eye doctor, I have to do a similar test all the time - because of the medicine I'm on, I'm expected to go blind eventually (they say) and that it will start with my inability to discern shades of colors. Blue-green area for me too. Hmph. I say the test was wrong. ;)
I got a 2! I made my daughter take it too cause she's always arguing with me over blue/purple shades/hues. She got a 19! Ha! Now she's not allowed to argue with me about color anymore. Beat my husband, too. He got an 8.
um, i just took the test, can't be correct - i got a 783. now, i have been told i have issues but i know i see colors. this test was hard for me but that result was crazy. like, CRAZY! do not believe it at all.
That was interesting! I got a 21. I had trouble in the blue/green spectrum and could tell that before I got the results report. It was weird how the bards started to show "diagonal lines' when you got them lined up right or close to right.
@jinx when i got my drivers license way back when, the test had all these boxes and the doctor told me to tell him what was in the boxes. there were lots of them. i looked and said, ok, there is this in the bottom left hand box. and he goes - and? i was like, and what? he told me i didn't see red or green. we got into a wonderful discussion about that because i know i do. so then he flashed cards in front of me and as they passed in front of me, i could sometimes see things depending on the light. he said very few people are really color blind, they are color deficient in certain areas but it is rare for women to be. my sons all have different issues with color, too. i found the test very difficult but usually if i can put colors next to each other, i do ok. those ones were just sooooo close to each other. color is one thing, hues are fine tuning, or so i believe? sometimes i can sort of feel when colors don't go together, like with paint in a room and that amazes me. not sure about my screen, would have no idea how to even tell!

thanks - it just sort of reaffirms that if your working in colour you need to keep taking a step back before finalising an image
I figured with a pro monitor I'd have had a near perfect score, maybe we never calibrated it :S
Just did it a second time and got an 8. Very satisfied - for sure no cataracts.
Yes my eyes where hurting toward the end
is it true that score zero is the highest? but i dont undertand the result after i submit..
