Post your pictures (include a description and the award you won) that have won ribbons at the fair, won awards or featured in your newspaper. I recently was featured in our local newspaper just yesterday 9/11/2012 with this picture. I thought it would be interesting to see what you all have gotten accolades for. Can't wait to revisit your achievements!
HARVEST AT LEONARD'S ROUND BARN
@sailingmusic Our paper has a special section that allows it's readers to submit their photos and then they pick one picture to go in everyday the paper is distributed. No, I do not work for the paper, just a reader. ;)
This one was chosen to be used in a brain study at the Univ of Colorado at Denver. No pay, just helping out.
This one was published in jpg magazine. I won $100 and a year's free subscription to the magazine. Sadly the magazine ceased publication and is only a web presence now.
@shirljess@andycoleborn Great photos and congratulations on being in print, that is awesome. @mikehamm The first photo makes me wonder how it w used for brain studies. The second photo is amazing, can see why you won.
@sianipops - Nia, my understanding of the brain study was that the researchers would show pictures to the subjects to see the subject's responses. I don't know if they were somehow wired to measure certain responses or if it was just a visible response or if they had to write something down.
On a whim, I entered our town's annual juried art show. The theme this year was "Foodies" and I don't do a lot of food related shots, so I didn't think I'd get in, but this one was chosen! The opening reception is on Friday! Yay :)
My proudest one was getting chosen for the second year in a row for another prestigious photography show that is held at a local museum. It was my Jan 4th photo, but here's a photo of it at the show, with some people admiring it, LOL. They put me front and center, too! I was totally stoked!
@copperheadglass Awesome, you can tell she is a true ranch woman (or maybe i am jumping the gun by assumeing this is a woman)! I lived in Montana for 6 years and new several rough tough ranchy gals!
this shot was the overall winner in our village's photo contest (prize money - £25), (OK there were only 65 entrants)
this one appeared in our local newspaper:
and I received a phonecall on Tuesday letting me know that I was one of four runners up in a competition (prize money £50) that I had entered that had had over 700 entries. This was the shot:
This was my first published one http://365project.org/coolgirlsar/365/2011-06-04:
And this photo was printed in 18 local newspapers, it was part of a competition and I came third (http://www.flickr.com/photos/coolgirlsar/7407335050/lightbox/)
