Nude shots,,,,,yes or no.

December 9th, 2013
Just wanting to know if it is ok to do nude shots on 365? I don't care either way just don't want my grandson to use this site anymore if we do. Whats you take on it. Sorry, not trying to be a prude, just looking out for my young grandson.
December 9th, 2013
Yep; it's usually done in "good taste" on here.
December 9th, 2013
Yes, you will definitely find nude shots on this site. In fact there is a nude theme this week from 5+2. As a community service I will refrain from participating in that particular theme. That said, I don't run across a lot of nudity when randomly just perusing.
December 9th, 2013
Thanks for your comments. Like I said, I don't mind for me, but I would rather see them in better taste, but don,t want young boys to run onto it. Sorry, I didn't know there was a nude theme this week,,,,My Bad. lol

@lisabell bahaaaa! "as a community service" ...

but yes, Peggy, what Lisabell said...
December 9th, 2013
Hi Peggy
there are nude images on here ----------
if you go to http://365project.org/tags/nude?page=4
and browse you will see the type of photos -------i do not find any of them offensive or distasteful - how old is your grandson?
December 10th, 2013
Maybe you should join the theme challenge and show us what you think "better taste" is...you would be helping me out...I won't have to make a trip to the national art gallery to research what is deemed tasteful and appropriate for little people's eyes before I make my entry
December 10th, 2013
Lisabell...your "community service" comment is so funny! (I will say the same for myself...haha). That being said, I am not offended by nude photos. I prefer "artfully done" shots but, whose to say what is artful and what is not? It's that "eye of the beholder" personal choice kind of thing. On art related websites (that I've been a part of) there are usually moderators and/or administrators that make final decisions on such matters. (Some are more "strict" than others). When it comes to children, parents (& other involved adults) choose how best to protect their own. In my experience, as the Mom of a daughter, spending time with various media and discussing it was time well spent.
December 10th, 2013
Actually the theme is 'naked', not nude so it's open to interpretation. Shows you how my mind works,
December 10th, 2013
Thank you for all the input. Like I said, I don't appose it, just protecting young eyes. He is 8 Yrs old. Maybe grandma is to overprotective, who knows lol.
December 10th, 2013
There are other young people on here, Peggy, and if your grandson doesn't follow anyone who takes nude shots, he probably won't run into any. I've only seen one here or there on the popular page and they were always in good taste. Hope this helps.
December 10th, 2013
I've always used this person's profile to get an idea of tasteful nudes:

@grizzlysghost Trying to figure out why my face book profile is so helpful to you
December 10th, 2013
Sorry to all. Didn't mean to open up a can of worms here. Was just asking a question lol. My grandson is just 8 yrs old and he I guess, just happened to open up the Latest page and seen it. Was just wanting to know if I need to watch out for that when he is here. I am new to 365. Not a problem. Carry on. :}

December 10th, 2013
@grizzlysghost Very sneaky Mr.grizzlysghost....you have us clicking our own face book page!! haaahaaa...clever! I have done nude drawings (tasteful of course) but I had to check that album to make sure I hadn't posted any on my FB!!
@miata2u Peggy--no problem, no can of worms--just a good discussion!
December 10th, 2013
@miata2u No worries, Peggy.This is a wonderful supportive community.You will enjoy it and will learn so much.It isn't worms it is just ideas.Welcome to 365! An eight year old should probably be monitored on any site,but this is far safer and way more tasteful than Facebook.I find the nude images on here very beautiful and artistic.But you will probably see more nudity in an art gallery.I am joining @lisabell in her "community Service" of not participating in any nude theme. So the little guy can follow me, if he likes bugs, plants and animals. :)
December 10th, 2013
I have seen a few, but I don't follow them because I don't like to see that kind of stuff either. I don't consider it "art!" You can follow me, I often show the pics I see to my kids. My 11-year-old especially loves the animal pictures.
December 10th, 2013
While there are some on 365, there is only 9 pages of them going back at least three years. When you compare that with the 17-20 pages a day of images, it is a small number and they are not seen that often.
December 10th, 2013
Whilst I can applaud and admire your desire to protect your grandson, I would say that you only have to walk past high street shops like Anne Summers or Victorias Secret or see some of the billboards and see scantily clad young ladies and men. A certain amount of "exposure" to nudity could be regarded as normal / educational and part of growing up. You might need to point out the rights and wrongs of it to your grandson but the brutal fact is that people get naked for a variety of reasons and we all have to get used to it otherwise real life is going to come as a shock to the lad!
December 10th, 2013
we are all naked underneath the clothing - i do not see a problem with it -------------I never had a problem with my daughters seeing a nude body -----------
December 10th, 2013
@grizzlysghost Hahaha, too funny!
December 10th, 2013
@miata2u Peggy, it's a valid question and you certainly didn't open up a can of worms! We represent a wide range of ages, cultures, and tastes here. Given that, there are two points I'd like to make. First, while there is occasional nudity (almost always with an extremely artistic flair and in excellent taste) on this site, an 8-year old would see far more nudity on a casual tour of the Vatican. (Seriously. The walls are lined with medieval and Renaissance era art.) Second, what he actually SEES will not leave an impression. Your reaction to it WILL. So on the extremely rare occasion where he does stumble across it - and in 2-years on this site, I've seen it pop up on the latest page only once - take it as an excellent opportunity to educate him on the beauty of art and how important it is to respect our bodies.
December 10th, 2013
@grizzlysghost why does my facebook profile come up when I follow your link? I don't have any nudes on facebook!!!!
December 10th, 2013
@grizzlysghost How did you do that? you got me going there!!
December 10th, 2013
Nia
@grizzlysghost rofl! That was awesome!
December 10th, 2013
@grizzlysghost LOL!!!

@lisabell LOL at "community service"

@miata2u Welcome to 365! Not a can of worms. I don't do nudes, or really many people pictures at all, but that is a personal choice. In my year and a half year, I have seen some, but not too many. Good luck making the decision on whether or not to allow your grandson to be here.
December 10th, 2013
As a community service I will refrain as well

@lisabell
December 10th, 2013
Well, I'm minor too (not 8 though, a bit older haha, but I don't want to say my age for some reason), and I have absoulutely no probs with nude shots, I've not seen that many and those I saw were amazing art... let's say if I had an 8 y/o brother I wouldn't bother that moth if he saw them :)
hope that made sense :D
December 10th, 2013
@shepherdmanswife - hee hee - Aaron is pulling your leg - his link take us each to our own profile. :-)

I never reacted to nudity when my son was small - any more than I would at any other body part. I have only seen tasteful and beautifully done nudes on here. I remember being on a beach in Cornwall many years ago and there were some nude sunbathers - my son was completely unfazed - I saw other kids pointing and giggling.

I understand wanting to protect your grandson - I would always monitor any online activity - it's very easy to pull up anything on the internet - even when you have family filters set.

How neat that your grandson is interested in photography at his age - that's really great!
December 10th, 2013
@jankoos I've worked that out but I am intrigued as to how he did that!

I think the rest of your comment is meant for Peggy. @miata2u)
December 10th, 2013
Meg
I personally think that they are okay, so long as they aren't a spread eagle shot. I have posted one to my page a few months ago and I will do another for this week's 5+2 theme... You can check out the sort of thing that is being posted on 5+2 here... http://365project.org/fiveplustwo/365/2013-12-09.

December 10th, 2013
I let my 9 year old daughter view my last entry for the naked theme and her response was, "gross Mom, I see your butt". It still makes me laugh... she refused to fav it. too funny. My theory is I don't want her to grow up thinking the human body is a bad thing... I let her look, but the truth of the matter is she would much rather view the animal pictures. I think at her age she knows what she wants to see and what she does not and just moves along if she sees something "gross".
December 10th, 2013
@kannafoot Excellent response Ron, especially the fact that kids will react to our REACTIONS more than the subject itself.
December 10th, 2013
@steampowered you summed up my thoughts exactly @kannafoot and yours Ron @photohoot and that is a hoot Wendy @froggie0628 each to their own
December 10th, 2013
I dont particularly have an issue with nude images - but my perspective is probably slightly skewed...
December 11th, 2013
Ditto what Ron said!
