My followers know that the school shooting in Parkland happened just a few short miles from me. Even though I didn't personally know those killed, the past few weeks have been heavy in our community. Three of the victims were laid to rest at our church. A high school friend of mine happened to be in front of the school paying her respects when she saw a contingent from Hawaii arrive to present a lei made by high school students in Hawaii. What an amazing gift of love.
Such a beautiful and touching tribute, Danette, which brought tears to my eyes. My heart breaks for all those affected by this awful tragedy. Thank you for sharing it.
Thanks for sharing this with us ...such amazing kindness!
Several years ago there was tragedy at the university that my sons attend ...A teacher who was denied tenure killed 6 other teachers at a regular weekly meeting. Days later when classes resumed, students traveled from several other universities/colleges just to be there and hug the students as they went back into the building; for several weeks people brought therapy dogs for those who just needed the reassurance as they sat in class. Campus police from several other universities drove for hours to be there and help patrol so the students would know that they were safe when classes resumed.
I mention this just to say how much healing can be brought by simple acts of compassion and just showing that we care.
May their Souls rest in Peace.
