If you are not up on your news, then you need to read about the political unrest in Egypt right now. Any of our 365ers there (including my friend, Dalia ElMaghraby (@daliadestructo) no longer can communicate via the Internet...at least for now. http://aquapour.com/egypt-ends-internet-facebook-twitter-mobile-service/555459/
No matter your political leanings, pray for the people of Egypt as their country goes through some very tough political times. I won't post any news articles as you can "google" them...different points of view depending on your source. Karen Hurd
Also Heba (@snowball) - her last post was on January 25th, showing a photo shed borrowed of what was happening then in Cairo. Things have only got worse since.
It makes me really uneasy to not have her bright, cheerful sentiments on my newsfeed lately. I hope she, Heba, Sherif and Sherrymerry are okay, as well as everyone we don't know, of course.
Thank you Karen. I know Dalia had at times expressed sadness, darkness and frustration. Who knows what pressures and stresses she had as this unrest was building. I'm thinking of her and Egypt and hoping for the best.
This was an extremely kind post... thoughts and prayers are with them all. Mohab and Mai are also from Egypt, but I'm just adding to ( @indiannie_jones ) list. I'm sure there are more of the 365 community as well. Much love to all of the people of Egypt...
She was the first person that came to my mind when I saw the news about Egypt
Thank you for posting this - definetly keeping her family and the rest of the citizens of that country in my mind
There's a link to Heba Azouz on that one who posted a scene from the protests and then we have heard no more since. Likewise with sherif http://365project.org/swagih/365/2011-01-21and Mohan Mustafa. All their posting stopped around 22nd-25th. I have tried to contact them via 365 as Twitter, Facebook all went down very quickly, but nothing. There must be others here on 365 too. Also, Yemen and Algiers is affected. Are there any 365ers from those countries?
Thank you for posting this. It's hard when it affects people we "know", and I honestly feel that this 365 community as like family. Dalia was one of the first people to start following my project, and she is so incredibly sweet and talented. I will keep everyone in my thoughts and prayers.
Yes, will certainly add my prayers. Terrible news. 365 really is a community of caring folk and when someone is in trouble there's a sense of support from all over the globe.
@miranda I missed your post, but obviously we have all been concerned. If we keep this post going, when something changes let's make sure we tell the others here.
@hwy61 The more the merrier :-) I just want these others to get any communications that do get through and for Heba, Sherif and Mohab to know we know that they are missing from here and that we will be rooting for them during this time ....great if other 365ers can add names. It would be good if we could somehow keep this thread visible. How can we do that?
@hwy61 - good plan. The mobile phone networks weren't down for long, so hopefully they'll let the internet back soon. I mean, it can't be good for businesses. I just hope that everyone is OK and we'll hear from them soon. Shame no one has any other way of contacting them. :-(
Just searched for Heba and Dalia on facebook and found them, but no mobile number or anything. Just thought it would be nice to text and let them know we're thinking of them, but can't be done I'm afraid.
Wishing all our 365 community, as well as all the others affected by this global unrest, are safe and able to go about their daily lives soon. Many positive thoughts go their way.
@miranda Mohab and Mai have not been on FB since it was shut down, email seems to also be out. I'm thrilled -- ecstatic to see this thread. I know that it will mean a lot to all of them.
Thinking of all of our 365ers in Egypt, and hoping they stay safe. These are scary times we live in, and things like this drive home to me just how very lucky I am. Thank you for starting this thread, Karen.
As soon as I heard about this the other day, I immediatel.y thought of our friends there. Thoughts to all of them, hoping and praying they are all ok. It will be good to see them back on here, and it will be so neat for them to realize they are being missed.
Thinking of all of our 365 friends in those countries and praying for the safety of all the people there. Hopefully we will have our friends back soon. I've been thinking of Dalia since her last post @daliadestructo.
Did you all hear that Glenda's (@glendq) daughter (with help of the Canadian government) just caught a flight out of Cairo heading to Frankfort, the first leg of her trip home.
As I mentioned in Miranda's posting earlier, my thoughts are with the people of Egypt in hopes a peaceful resolution to this conflict and that a common understanding can be found.
It is so wrong on so many levels that their voices have been silenced. Praying that everything will end well and they will be back to share the incredible story soon.
Thank you Karen, for starting this discussion. I think of all of our Egyptian friends every day when I hear a news report or read a newspaper headline. My prayers and thoughts are with them.
Thanks for posting a bit of consciousness here. I've taken for granted my freedom to do something as simple as take a photo and post online for all to share. Praying for the people in Egypt and for those who live elsewhere who are affected.
I was due to fly to Egypt this weekend for a holiday - now cancelled. I've been following Dalia since I started 365 in January - my thoughts are with her and everyone else in Egypt...
I recommend the blog of my Egyptian journalist friend Mona Eltahawy (based in the USA) for regular updates on the situation (and background) in Egypt : http://www.monaeltahawy.com/blog/
Cheryl, ( @wisdomeur ) thanks for sharing the blog with us. I will check it out as I have been hoping for some update...TV just does not give us the whole picture. Hoping your friend is getting some inside information.
And to all of you who are monitoring the situation along with me...please post any news you come across. Thanks, Karen
Cheryl, @wisdomeur It appears the link as you posted it does not work. I was able to get to her site by removing the "blog" ending - http://www.monaeltahawy.com/
It brings it home to you, when you hear of somone you know is affected by this and it is not just a TV news story. My prayers for everyone esp Dalia and that it wil be resolved soon with no more loss of life.

Hugs to you both!
