It has been such an emotional week with my dear friend Eric passing away that I could not but choose this one that I deliberately shot as a memorial to him. Eric would have been 96 years old next week. He was an artist, photographer, retired carpenter and a man of deep Christian faith. I shall miss him, his advice and his wisdom tremendously. RIP Eric.
really interesting to me that this is my favourite - but I went back through them to check. I like: the fact that the subject isn't in focus, the 'stuff' on the gravel, and the hope of the sun and the shadow on the lawn
It has to be this photo of a large begonia. Through the magic of mid-day sunlight, this flower had amazing glow and shadows. The edges are edited to downplay distracting bits and pieces, but the yellow begonia is virtually unedited.
Already two months of social isolation -- but what I've discovered is that there are many birds I can photograph from my own backyard when I can't go to the nature preserve to go birding!

This shot brings back memories of a special night camped at this remote spot
Normally at this time of year I take a lot of aviation shots so it was nice to catch this big old beast near my home.
