This weekend I took the photo I am most proud of in my whole project. It may not technically be the best, but I'm incredibly proud of it. Here it is...
The reasons I'm so proud can be found in the caption that goes with it.
So now I'm wondering, which photo are you most proud of that you have taken? Post them here with an explanation so we can all see. :-)
Great thread:
I don't know about proudest moment. I never think anything I've done has been good enough and I guess my proudest moment is to come. For now this is one of my favourite pictures:
I wouldn't say proudest, but I am delighted with how this portrait of my mate Tim came out. Does help that he's regulary photographed in his line of work so knows how to make use of natural light and limited resources ...
I would have to say that my proudest moment (photo) is when my first Monarch of the season emerged as a butterfly after nurturing him from an egg. I went on to raise 220 of them last year but the first is always the most special.
These, for sure. Mostly b/c me and my fiancée are both afraid of heights so getting these shots was like hugely overcoming our fears (her moreso then me lol b/c i still couldnt do an edge shot)
The great feedback ive gotten from these is very satisfying.
I shot this one for the theme HOPE....and it came out much better than I thought once I loaded it up.... I hadn't realised I had captured the gull too! Bonus!!!
I love this photo I took of my son. I don't think I've ever taken a better picture of him! What I love is how much it reflects his personality. If there was nothing else in my 365 project that worked out, this still makes the project worthwhile.
I'm only on photo # 21 right now though, I may have a different favorite eventually :)
Mine would be my day 50. I have a few good photos that Im really in love with. But Im so happy with this one cause it was a self portrait done on a timer.
I like this one as it was in just like a split second the sun came out and was gone again and I was lucky to get it, and everyone reaaly liked it as well, which was really nice.
A big critic herself, this lil girl was pleased with the way this pic turned out and the kind of processing i did on this one was never before tried by myself..pretty pleased with what i now have here
It has to be my son blowing out his birthday candles since the light ended up so perfect and it is definitley my fav so far on the project and I am also so proud of my big 4 year old boy :D
I don't think this is the best photo in my project, but i am very proud of it because i was terrified to shoot a wedding. TERRIFIED. and it ended up wonderful!! and this shot wasn't even posed!! :) i was soooo glad to see this, and to have some wonderful shots for the lovely bride.
Capturing the light and the feeling of this moment, along with staying away from those "dead eyes", all while staying SOOC really is something that I've been working for. I like this photo.
This photo is one of my proudest moments, David challanged me to capture a water crown in a flower..
Another proud moment had to be from the reception of my bubble photo.. I was stunned at the response that came from it and reaching this weeks Offical Top 20 with two of my photos left me speechless to say the least. It was well worth running around the garden like a looney for =o)
I agree with those who have said their proudest moment is yet to come - I don't think I've gotten there quite yet. But of the shots I've uploaded so far (80 as of today! Wow!), this one grabs me the most:
I was photographing a group of cat-o-nine tails in November, and a chickadee was kind enough to land on them briefly. it took a few tries to get this one since he didn't want to sit still at all. But this was the perfect combination of luck, timing, and skill.
I love capturing a candid portrait. My daughter hates my camera, so I've stopped "making" her "pose." These are 2 of my favorites that I'm proudest of....they also make me think I could never be a typical portrait photographer.
This thread is really interesting! I enjoyed seeing everyone's picture but also reading about the moments they captured. I think I'll have to agree with a few people here and say that I think I haven't reached my proudest moment yet. It's hard to think of a picture I'm the proudest of because I feel like that picture would have something emotional tied in to it. These pictures don't really have that emotional meaning behind it to make me proud of them and they're not necessarily my favourite photos but I guess I'm proud of what I suceeded with them:
This one from early in my project because I feel like I caught a moment that could tell a story. And also because I love how blue everything is!
And this one because I always find it so hard to take reasonable pictures at concerts and I have no idea how I managed to get this shot with my point and shoot at a Goo Goo Dolls concert but I love it:
this is def not my best photo...but it is my favorite. this is arthur he lives on venice beach and sells his art there...i gave him this photo and he was so happy..he loved it. this man has inspired me so much...really truly has changed my life and my outlook.
For me.....I cannot choose "my proudest moment". I am proud of myself for keeping this project up. :) It has had it's ups and downs. I have quite a few pictures that I am proud of so far.....and there are not so proud pictures (I think everyone has those). This project has taught me a lot through trial and error....or reading the topics. This picture was my defining learning moment......something that I have never been able to do:
Great thread. Really interesting reading everyones reasoning.
I had a bit of a tough time choosing one. I ended up picking the below photo because I had been trying to get a shot of one of these fellows for a long long time. I had only seen a few and with a working distance of 6cm or so getting close enough without it flying away proved tricky and frustrating. This guy was well behaved and let me fire off a dozen or so shots before making tracks. Lighting isn't the best but still my "proudest" moment so far.
And about 10 mins later another, larger and different coloured one landed right in front of me and let me snap a few shots. When it rains, it pours!
This was a tribute to my partner's mother who we laid to rest on St. Patrick's Day. I wanted to give @kdutson (my partner) and her family something really special. Before 365 I didn't even know what bokeh was and I was very intimidated to try it. It came out so wonderful and has such a powerful meaning it definitely is my proudest moment.
This is my son, Skyler, holding his Nana Nora's urn. Nora is my girlfriend's mother. Skyler and Nora had a special bond. She always treated him as her own. At the time, she was the only grandma he had ever known because my mom wasn't around much.
Nora was taken from us unexpectedly when she was just 43 years old because of a life long struggle with addiction. The bracelet my son is wearing says, 'Remember N.O.R.A.' On the other side it says, 'CHOOSE LIFE'. N.O.R.A. stands for 'Network Of Recovery Angels," which is a non-profit organization ran by her two daughters, Elizabeth and Kristina. It supports recovering addicts. If you are interested in a bracelet visit:
Nora passed away June 24, 2009. Her headstone has recently been finished, so we are now ready to bury her ashes. She was a feisty, Irish red-head who loved St. Patrick's Day, so it seemed only obvious to do it on the 17th.
Skyler's birthday is also St. Patrick's Day, he will be 10 this year. We weren't sure how he was going to react to laying her to rest on his birthday, but he knows that it only brings them closer. This year, St. Patrick's Day is going to be extra special as it is a day to celebrate both Skyler's life and Nora's.
Check this out :)

Has to be this one...I have been trying to get my son to sit up on his own for 3 months, pretty much unsuccessfully, I was beginging to worry about him, since he was almost 8 months old. Last week he did it, and this week, I stood him up next to the couch and he stayed! This was a milestone, and what a cute way to capture it!
I really didn't set out to take a reflection pic but I saw the colors in this and decided to try...and just when I was about to take the picture my 6 yr old daughter stuck a stick in the water and caused the ripple! I was like....ah man!! but it turns out...the ripple definitely makes this picture! She knew what she was doing LOL
Proudest moment in the last year - gotta be when we summitted Mount Snowdon in beautiful and weather temperamental North Wales ... I'd flown in with double pneumonia from South Africa and my ballet dancing adult daughter flew in from Denmark to do this with me (her first ever full day hike) - love can climb mountains :-) ...
Is the photo I took today. I have spent hours upon hours, chasing bumble bees determined to get a good shot. this one make me so happy. I'm still determined though to get a better shot.
This is one of my proudest. I am not happy with the color of the upload on this one, more vibrant on my screen. This shot won third place in Pennsylvania Magazine landscape contest last year.
I didn't get any comments on this one, but it's one of my absolute favorites. I was downtown Indy at the top of a parking garage and 3 buses went by and I got them as a full stream and I LOVE THIS picture. One of my favorites.
It may not seem like much, but this was my proudest moment as a photographer so far. I had finally figured out manual settings on my husband's Nikon D90, and I was using a manual 50mm prime lens that belonged to my father-in-law. Matching up f-stops, and capturing a moment of pure love and beauty between my husband and his mother felt like a supreme accomplishment for lil' ol' me amateur photographer. =D
I don't do set up shots very well. On another bulletin board that I follow, someone posted something similar to this and challenged others to create their own example. I didn't take him up on it, mainly because I don't do set up shots.
This past Sunday rolls around and it's pouring rain. Not much to take a picture of, so I decided to put something together and I'm pretty proud of the results.
What a great discussion! I am most proud of this beach shot simply because before I started on this project I had no idea what composition, perspective, or DOF was!!! LOL...I've loved photography for years, but am such a novice. I have learned so much from this awesome community and I enjoy every day of being among such talented people!!
Not because of the subject, composition or really anything about the photo, which is not particularly good - except that is was my first for the project. Before that, I had 100 excuses for not doing project365, and finally I just jumped in. 4 months later and still going (surprising myself...).
wow there's some fantastic shots on this thread, love it :))
this is my favourite and my proudest moment so far on 365 ... i've had a fairly difficult first quarter of 2011 and this theme was posted in reference to that and a couple other people going through similar tough times ... so it was personal for a start, then i magically found this candle for TWO DOLLARS at kmart ... then i set the shot up in what turned out to be perfect lighting and "staging" ... then managed to hand hold the camera still for two and a half seconds to get a clear shot .... and some magical flares, which is something i struggle with producing on purpose usually haha. i get a warm fuzzy feeling each time i look at it, in spite of why or how the theme came about, its some of my best work in my opinion, and a direct result of this community :)))
i have an honorable mention too (haha) purely becuase i think i "framed" this photo particularly well, and it was one of those times where you just turn the camera and you KNOW the photo is great before you even take it :))
@sdpace These are awesome! I know exactly what you mean about never being a 'typical' portrait photographer, my son is almost literally unpose-able (he's autistic), he never stops moving, but he is also quite breathtakingly beautiful and my best portraits ever are of him. Hence, one of my proudest moments was this one...
As a mostly intuitive, 'revelling in happy accidents' kinda shooter, I was very proud of this because it was exactly what I set out to do...
And, oddly enough, this one. Because I took it handheld with macro lens + full extension tubes, with a focal depth of about 2mm, in low light, with a moving subject (my aforementioned son).
@microart Beautiful portrait of your son. He looks so angelic :) I love candid shots - I don't think I'd be as "proud" of a posed portrait as I am when I can capture kids/people in action. I think I have 2 posed of my kids in my album and the rest are candids. Your eyelashes macro is pretty astounding! I haven't gone for eyes with my tubes yet, thanks for the inspiration!! :)
@annnoelker - I had to figure that out earlier too! Go to the page your picture is on and copy the "share" link on the right side, then paste it in the reply box...if there is a better way anyone please share, but that will do it! =)
I think it is this one of my son Callum. I had read about using the camera flash to freeze water and wanted to try it out on Callum as I have a couple of shots of him in the sprinkler from various summers but I never expected to come out with this shot:
i really dont feel right posting on this thread- i have a lot to learn and the talent here is amazing! I have to agree with those who have said that their best is yet to come. the photo i chose is my selfie- it was the hardest to post because i hate myself in photos(which is why i am always behind the camera) i was proud that i put it out there, was able to use the self-timer for the first time, and went sans make-up ....here it is:
these are a few of mine that i really like, the first one because i've always wanted to get a photo of the sunset, and i was so pleased that i managed to.
I don't really know why i like the second picture, it feels kind of vintagey to me, and something draws me to it.
And the 3rd picture, well i was just so pleased to get that one!!
This one because I had always wanted to do a ferris wheel shot.
And this one because it was before 8 am, and I had to execute the shot with no caffeine in my blood stream.
Ok, ok ... ONE more
This one because she is my best friend, and I've been taking pictures of her for years and years. From my crappy beginning days in middle school, I took her maternity pictures, her newborn baby pictures, and her daughter as she's grown up. She's been very supportive of me.
This one because it made it to the most popular page, and third in the official top list also because it has so many views. I use this opportunity to thank you - no one mentioned no one forgotten.
I am proud of this one because iof the motion, and the reflection in the water. I feel like to shows her determination to win the race.
This shot make me proud because I had no time to set up. I was talking to the kids when I realized the birds were swooping in to steal the chips my son had thrown in the sand. (no editing on this shot)
He is a natural when he wants to be...
I already posted but I loved the ways todays pic came out of my son, even though I couldn't get a smile. oh and didn't like the reflections in his eyes, but i still love it!!
I know this isn't a very spectacular photo, but I was so thrilled to capture this sculpture of the globe with snow on North America. This scultpure was difficult to capture because it is located on a very busy highway and there is really no place to stop to take a pic. i plotted and planned for about a month and finally bit the bullet and parked on the shoulder (very dangerous) and walked about 1/2 mile to get to it. When I realized it was covered in snow, I was so excited, because we had a VERY snowy winter in our area. I had such a rush after I caught it. What a feeling photography gives!!! Love it!
My photo from yesterday has made it to the popular page - wow! So exciting, and makes me feel even more proud that I am about to become a wildlife carer like my cousin. The photo is one of her current babies. Thank you everyone!
I have one that was set up, and one that was taken as it happened.
I don't know about proudest moment. I never think anything I've done has been good enough and I guess my proudest moment is to come. For now this is one of my favourite pictures:
And I also really love the meaning that I had behind this one:
The great feedback ive gotten from these is very satisfying.
My first edit using Picnik and proud of the way it turned out. I just turned around at my front door and the shot was there!
I'm only on photo # 21 right now though, I may have a different favorite eventually :)
and this one because its something that i wouldnt have been able to do before this project
PS Fabulous photos on here! Brilliant thread!
I think this is the one that makes me the most proud.. It was one of my first selfies
I don't think this is the best photo in my project, but i am very proud of it because i was terrified to shoot a wedding. TERRIFIED. and it ended up wonderful!! and this shot wasn't even posed!! :) i was soooo glad to see this, and to have some wonderful shots for the lovely bride.

it was really my first attempt at not using the auto functions...def one of my faves of my project
For example: This picture. He was moving around a lot and I was surprised to get a decent shot of him.
This is my proudest moment and the writing that goes with it says it all really

this one of my more recent shots - most of that shoot actually lol
This one which won the theme red awhile back
This because it was probably my first really sucessful shoot with reslts I loved
I felt very proud of seeing something beautiful or at least attractive nobody could guess there is in this ugly insignificant yard.
I will go back now with a better camera to see what I can make of it.
and this one because even though it may have looked odd to shoot my daughter's legs without her knowledge, it came out just the way I wanted...

I planned on leaving it coloured in the beginning. Hence I was really happy that it turned out so good in b/w. :)
I am most proud of this picture because it turned out exactly how I wanted it to! I feel like this is the one I worked hardest on and it shows.
I love that I had the opportunity to capture this moment. Every time I look at the photo I wonder what she was thinking about.
This is one of my proudest. I am not happy with the color of the upload on this one, more vibrant on my screen. This shot won third place in Pennsylvania Magazine landscape contest last year.
What enchants me most are the spots!
you have to read the caption to understand why I am so proud.

That's my best friend in the picture ♥
This one was a lot of fun to set up.
I love this picture. He looks like such a doll.
