Bedford blues stamped out in the retreat of spring

I cram my work hours in from Monday - Thursday leaving Fridays free to do as I please. That is, after gym, weekly shop and other chores. On each of the Fridays in March, the sky has turned grey and there hasn't been a hint of blue about in the natural surroundings .

Today was cold, windy and grey but I took myself off on a long walk, confident of finding blue if only I looked hard enough. Apart from boats (already featured this month) and a plethora of discarded blue plastic , I found nothing. What I had hoped for was a glimpse of kingfisher along the river bank.

Creative lateral thinking. Now, I have seen enough kingfishers to sink a ship, but have not set eyes on this stamp before. Excellent choice

I understand- after processing several shots for blue and not feeling there was enough blue in them, I finally remembered I'd taken a blue shot during the snowstorm! Well, it's not a Kingfisher, but I do like your blue stamp!

Helen, when your photos show up in my 'latest' reel I always smile because I know I am in for a treat with your background narratives. I'm sorry you didn't find the blues you were looking for on your walk but you certainly came up with a clever idea using this blue stamp. Like Ethel, I've not set eyes on this stamp before so this blue photo is special for me. :-)

Fantastic macro. My son went through a period of time where stamps were very much an interest. I saved his collector's book when he gave up his interest, with the thought that some day, he would look back at them and remember the hours poring over them with fond memories. I very much enjoy reading your narrative.

@ethelperry Thank you. I have a vision now of a ship full of kingfishers. I'm glad the stamp kept you interested.
@onewing Thanks Babs. Last minute pressure can lead to creativity!
@365karly1 thank you - the stamp was staring me in the face on my return
@olivetreeann thank you. This rainbow malarkey is harder than would first appear.
@gaylewood Gayle - you are too generous but I am very happy if I cause some entertainment. Would you know it but the sky shone bright blue again first thing this morning. Only it is indigo today! Glad the stamp was of interest.
@moonmtn thank you Kahsia - it seemed very ordinary at the time
@adayinmallacoota thanks Belinda
@evalieutionspics Stamp collecting was all the rage when I was young but I never got involved. Glad to be of interest :)

I like the selective focus effect...

So nicely done here Helen, and a gorgeous shade of blue for the day. Sometimes the simple things are the most interesting.
