007 - Another beautiful day for a walk into the centre of York. Close to the shops are the Museum Gardens and the Yorkshire Museum. Both gardens and museum have recently had a lot of money spent on renewal, and the results are impressive. The gardens are interesting at any time of the year, but particularly nice when the daffodils are in bloom. For me the daffodils shout 'Spring at last' and are one of the signs that the warmer part of the year is almost here. In the background you can see the ruins of St Mary's Abbey. No doubt we will be seeing more of these gardens (and the abbey) before the end of my project!
Yesterday I took a daffodil picture and said it reminded me of daffodils around the city walls of York so it's lovely for me to come across this photo today of daffodils in the museum gardens.
Glad to help with the memories - although the daffodils around the city walls are a little disappointing this year. Perhaps because lots of kids (and others) used the banks as sledge runs during the snow a few weeks ago.
Thank you Bruni - these are lovely gardens, and there is a nice museum in here too, but unfortunately much of the area around the abbey ruins is currently closed off for the York Mystery Plays - http://365project.org/if1/365/2012-07-12

Thank you all for your positive comments. I've no doubt I will be returning to the gardens and the ruins later in my project!
