The first milkweed seed pod opened today, sending silky seeds sailing on the slightest breeze. Fall is in full swing here on the hill; and all day long, the gardens buzzed with activity as chipmunks, squirrels, bees, and birds enjoyed the mild, sunny weather. Thankfulness comes easy on beautiful days like this!

Fav. It is terrific on black! Love your dof - the detail on the seeds and the fluffy silk is great. The gorgeous bokeh adds so much. Mine are still staying green - check on them daily waiting to get a try at a shot like this.-
@milaniet Thank you for commenting and for the fav! I got lucky that there was a slight breeze today to send the seeds on their journeys. I'm always amazed at the soft silkiness of the parachute-like seeds. Little miracles, they are!

I remember when I was a kid we would go looking for these things just to break them open to watch the seeds float away. So much more fun than video games!
@pej That's a great memory, Paul. Childhood was certainly different back then! I treasure my memories of playing outdoors from sun up until sundown. Like you, I watched many seeds float away!
