I love to watch light greet the candy jar in the sunroom. Surrounded by windows and woods beyond, the ever-changing scene delights! The jar holds fond memories of the beautiful Winter evening we discovered it while on a festive tour of historic homes in the area.
We walked the candlelit streets from home to home, admiring magnificent Christmas finery inside and out. Surprisingly, we came upon a lovely, old building with doors flung open to reveal table after table of antiques. Joy! Warmth and sparkle drew us in, and the candy jar promptly drew me over to a table and smiling dealer. Now, the pretty candy jar sits on our table year-round. Filled with candy or not, I find it sweet just the same!
I like viewing this image best on the black background.
@pej Thanks so much, Paul! This happened at the Old Allegheny Victorian Christmas House Tour on the North Shore. Have you ever gone? If not, you might consider going. It's always a lovely evening!
Isn't it amazing, all the colors that the angles of the glass pick up. I so enjoy reading your thoughtful commentary. You paint a vivid image with your words.
@lyndemc Thank you! Yes, the colors amaze me multiple times every day as the light in the room constantly changes. You are so kind to also comment on my words. The house tour evening is always so special. The history of the old homes always fascinates, and everyone and everything brims with holiday cheer!
My grandmother had a candy jar like this that we would always go straight to when we would visit! Beautiful photograph that brings back great memories!
@tmmyvns Thank you, Tammy! That is a wonderful memory for you...thanks for sharing it. Maybe I'll have grandchildren someday (I hope!), and I can keep mine filled with candy for them! :-)
This is just beautiful against the black - love how crystal clear that jar is to catch the light and color through it. How fun to have such nice memories of when you first bought this.
