My old blanket chest, handmade in the 1700s, meets my new yarn bowl, handmade in 2015; and I love the contrast of the warm, worn wood beneath the glossy, ceramic bowl! The artist creates this yarn bowl with a variety of birds. I'm partial to Black-capped Chickadees (my Dad's favorite bird) and Northern Cardinals (my Mom's favorite bird); so this little Chickadee has special significance for me.
This chilly, Saturday afternoon seems made for knitting! I’m homebound with an Achilles tendon injury and unable to move around much; so I’m filling in with this photo snapped months ago. The exact same scene could be captured today. I love knitting these nubby dishcloths as much as I love using them! Made of super absorbent, cotton yarn, the dishcloths bring a soft and cozy joy to dishwashing and other kitchen tasks. I especially love to knit them as little surprises for friends and family.
@lhart Thank you, Lynne! I'm glad you like the cloths, too. I actually prefer them over store-bought ones. They feel so good in my hands and do a superb job of cleaning.
@paulaw Thank you, Paula! I had never used a yarn bowl prior to purchasing this one, and now I'm hooked. It really does keep the ball of yarn from rolling around as I knit!
Love that bowl that's holding the wool - what a neat idea. I'd never heard of them before. The colors together are wonderful. Bet those dishcloths are work well - smart way to spend some recovery time. Do follow the doctor's instructions and stay put! An injury to that Achilles Tendon is nothing to fool around with and I imagine fairly painful. Do take it easy to let it heal. Your wooden chest is a real treasure.
@milaniet Thank you so much for your kindness, Milanie! I really do love the blanket chest, the yarn bowl, and the dishcloths. They bring me such joy! I am trying to follow the doctor's orders and stay put, because the tendon needs to heal to avoid surgery. In addition to knitting, browsing the beautiful images on 365 is a pleasant way to pass the time as I rest this silly tendon!
