I’m thankful for the gift of four seasons. Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter each offer their own unique brand of beauty. Current offerings here in western Pennsylvania include flowers well past their prime, or are they? Somehow I find the skeletons of last season’s colorful flowers quite beautiful!
I like viewing this image best on the black background.
I’m dedicating November to giving thanks! For years, I’ve kept a gratitude journal in which I jot down things that I’m thankful for. During this month when we’ll celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, I’m going to take my gratitude for God’s good gifts one step further by photographing a particularly meaningful gift each day for my 365 project! I've always viewed the subjects of my images as gifts, but I'm looking forward to this month of intentionally labeling them as such. This will enable me to spend a bit more time dwelling on God's goodness and offering the thanks that He deserves. If anyone would like to join me in this celebration of grace, please do! I’ll be tagging my images: all-is-grace.
Lovely depth of field making the tones so nice and soft. Viewed on black the large skeleteon (neat term there) flower shows nice detail. Those flowers are quite intriguing at this stage.
@milaniet Thank you! I so enjoy being able to get out and about again after a month of being housebound with this heel injury. Even though most of the colorful leaves are gone, there's still so much of this beautiful season to see!
Exquisite photo! Believe it or not Albuquerque also has four season, and I appreciate it too. We lived in Phoenix for seven years, and it did not have a distinct winter. I appreciated it once we moved here.
@cejaanderson Thank you for your comment and fav! I didn't know that Albuquerque had four seasons. That surprises me! I really love the seasonal changes. I love each season, but I'm always ready for the newness of the next one!
I agree- at first glance the dying flowers hardly seem like something you'd consider to be pretty. But then when you start seeing all the details of what used to hold the petals on and what still remains you can't help but recognize how beautiful they are. Lovely shot!
@olivetreeann You're so right, Ann. What remains after the petals and seeds are gone is quite beautiful. I had a wonderful time looking closely at all of the floral skeletons along the trail!
This is beauty in brown right here! Love the DOF and how the flowers curve into the focus field. Wonderful detail you captured in the petal-less flower.
@lyndemc Thank you so much for your kindness and fav, Denise! I'm so happy to be able to walk outside again. I'm having a ball with what's left of Fall!
You're right, it looks even more lovely set off against the black. I like the way you combine sharp detail in the foreground and bokeh in the background. I notice you've done it with a couple of shots.
P.S. I too am grateful to live in an area with four seasons.
