Tiny Sedum spurium ‘Fuldaglut’ barely reaches 3” tall, yet its presence looms large at the pond. Commonly referred to as Stonecrop, its fleshy leaves provide year-round interest. In Winter, this hardy plant displays these sweet, maroon rosettes. In Summer, a hint of green tinges the leaves; and star-shaped, pinkish red flowers attract butterflies, bees, and other pollinators. Creeping between larger perennials and stepping stones while never becoming intrusive, Fuldaglut’s zero maintenance quality makes it one of my favorite groundcovers.
I also use Fuldaglut as a filler in flower pots. Propagating it couldn’t be easier. I simply break off a few stems and poke them into the soil when potting. Fuldaglut’s chubby leaves provide a pretty contrast to delicate, colorful annuals as it fills in and cascades over the edges of the pots.
While walking around the pond today, I found many of these pretty rosettes enjoying the warm sunshine. Such a joy!
I will need to remember this plant as I could use it in my gardens! At first I thought the same as Lynn- that they were some pretty decorations on a porcelain showpiece. So pretty!
Yes, I'm with the others, your clever photography has deceived us into thinking these were your best earrings. Very pretty delicate flowers and colour. Thanks for the gardening tips.
