We took a leisurely ride on Saturday afternoon to have another look at a trail we’d discovered a few weeks back. Once again, we didn’t hop onto the Westmoreland Heritage Trail. We just scoped out a few more details and vowed to return soon with Gracie to give it go.
On the drive home, this vibrant Red-shouldered Hawk startled us as it zipped across the road, snatched a mole from a lawn, and landed on a nearby roof to enjoy its meal. Mike came to an abrupt stop, and I snatched my camera off the floor and caught what I could while hanging out the window with only 105mm. Seeing this species was a first for us; and its rusty color, especially on its beautifully barred breast, makes it a favorite!
