What words can describe the fun of filling our first grandchild’s first Easter basket — and that basket’s her mommy’s to boot? At just shy of five months old, sweet Charlotte Grace will soon celebrate her first Easter; and this Granny and Pap-pap can’t wait to get there. Thirty-four years after we first filled this basket for our first child, we'll pass it on to her first child with joy spilling over!
Here comes Peter Cottontail
Hoppin' down the bunny trail
Hippity hoppity, Easter's on its way
He'll bring baskets full of toys
And lots of other Easter joys
Hippity hoppity, Easter's on its way!
He'll bring jelly beans for Tommy
Colored eggs for sister Sue
And an orchid for your mommy
And an Easter bonnet, too
Oh, here comes Peter Cottontail
Hoppin' down the bunny trail
Hippity hoppity, Happy Easter Day!
My Mom loved to sing. I can hear her voice now — singing that song like there's no tomorrow. Like the basket, it's old and treasured and will be passed on to Charlotte. It's been a while since I sang it to her mommy, but I'll be ready. I've already started practicing.
What a lovely shot - and how exciting! Just gets better (at least for the next few years :) - Jerik and I are still hiding plastic Easter eggs from last year at least weekly - think he'll be old enough (4+) to dye eggs this year - at least I'm hoping. Love that that's his Mommy's Easter basket. One of Jerik's favorite toys is the Three Little Pigs house and pieces that his mom was given when she was one - he plays with it nightly.
Oh what a lovely tale of passing traditions down the generations. I do hope you enjoy every single moment of reliving the delight in a small child's face as all the Easter goodies are revealed. I like how you captured this with just a tease of what is inside.
@milaniet Thank you for commenting, Milanie. How lucky you are to spend so much time with Jerik! And he is lucky to have you in his life! It sounds like the two of you have so much fun together. Charlotte lives seven hours away. We visit about every eight weeks and will be visiting soon. I hope that someday we live much closer! Easter is such a magical time...enjoy!
