We got there after bedtime, so we let ourselves in. I admired the gerbera daisies on the table while tiptoeing past with our belongings, and it didn’t take us long to fall asleep after the long drive. Sitting at that table a few hours later with cups of hot coffee in our hands and her home’s unstoppable morning sunshine pouring in, she announced that the pretty pot of flowers was for me! Now back home, the flowerpot graces the windowsill above the big kitchen sink where I can easily enjoy its beauty while recalling hers. Beautiful inside and out — that’s our girl.
