The Dam by janetb

The Dam

How many times had we admired that little corner of Keystone Lake? The one with the picnic table nestled at the water's edge and a spot just perfect for casting a line. We finally made our way there after all these years and did just that.

After a while of watching my bobber go under only to pop back up with fish and worm long gone, I took to exploring the exposed rocks of the dam. Lured by Lady's-thumb's dainty pink-purple flower clusters, I traversed the uneven slope, ignoring my aching Achilles while recalling the pretty image of that wildflower in the picture book — the one I’d read to my darling daughter, oh, about 30 years ago. I wondered if she’d remember that book. I made a mental note to ask her. My daydream came to an end suddenly when I caught sight of a beautiful shade of blue between the rocks, and I crouched for a closer look at these unfamiliar flowers. A delightful discovery! I turned away only to have a look at what I could hear him reeling in.
Love the perspective!
