We headed down to the Lee Valley Hockey Centre to watch Adam in the National Schools Semi Final. After the Olympics the hockey pitch was taken up and moved to a permanent site just the other side of the velodrome - and this is it! You have to sign up to 'rules' if you take photos at these games but I'm pretty sure nobody it recognisable here. Adam's school was against Repton - formidable opponents who started off very strongly with some amazingly consistent attacking play. They went on to win the tournament across all age groups which is a record and reflects amazing facilities (they play on water based pitches all the time whereas the vast majority of the opposition had to get used to the unfamiliar surface during the actual games), coaching taken very seriously and sports scholarships. We spectators did suggest that maybe the second half could be decided by a sudden death maths quiz.... Anyway our boys played their socks off and didn't give up and we were all immensely proud. Repton were very courteous as well. Nigel and his dad watching the warm up on the right of this panorama.
This is great.
