In a warm spot by judithg

In a warm spot

When I stopped in Granchester this morning for some frosty shots I nipped down the alleyway by Jeffrey Archer's house to have a look at the statues in his garden. These geese seem to have wandered into the sunshine!
How pretty. I love the scenery here.

January 16th, 2012
Looks like we all had sunshine..thank goodness..
January 16th, 2012
@fueast You should see the rest of it - I may post his writing room opened by Mrs T before she became PM as a treat for you one day! A lot of his garden is quite public and there are some nice sculptures to look at. Can't bring myself to buy a pot of honey from him on open day though...
January 16th, 2012
@cookie123 Yep. He lives in The Old Vicarage - it's all rather nice.
January 16th, 2012
Judith I wish you hadn't told me this was a criminals garden ...Nice composition and his bridge is a bit Monet like !
January 16th, 2012
Beautiful!
January 16th, 2012
@phil_howcroft I know - Mary Archer has been outside the gates giving cups of tea to journalists on more than one occasion. The gardens are amazing with the Cam running through but I tend to have my teeth grittd while admiring them!!
January 16th, 2012
@judithg I understand the need to grit your teeth !
January 16th, 2012
Superb shot and what a lovely location, I rather warmed to the 'fragrant' Mary, so I don't begrudge her her place in the country.
January 16th, 2012
A beautiful scene and great composition. Those geese have the right idea.
January 16th, 2012

January 17th, 2012
Magical!
January 17th, 2012
I think that gnarly old branch above really helps make this picture. And the frosty grasses, too. Well done - I'd love to be there!
January 17th, 2012
Stunning shot Judith. Love it. Fav.
January 17th, 2012
OK I see what you mean - with 17 faves why is this not on the PP? Very strange.
January 17th, 2012
@fueast Don't know - being boycotted ;0( Monty got 30-odd & didn't appear.... May pop up briefly tomorrow but probably not!
January 17th, 2012
@judithg OK so my theory about the Monty picture is that older pictures are penalised but Rich doesn't agree with me. Another theory is that the more followers you have the more comments and favs you need. Might start gathering empirical evidence and fitting formulae. Got to be more interesting than what I am doing at the moment...
January 17th, 2012
@judithg btw at least it stops you picking up more followers. I'm getting a bit overwhelmed and stressed by not being able to follow loads of peole back. It seems rude but can't spend any more time on here than I already do.
January 17th, 2012
@fueast I think if you've got more followers you definitely do need more Favs - fair enough really but it's going to be very rare that I get more than 15 and I can't work out what my threshold is anyway!! I feel very stressed that I haven't even 'checked in' with new followers unless they've commented but I've had over a hundred newbies since Christmas and I'm supposed to be spending less time this year not more... I'm ending up just trying to view people who've commented and one or two others but I feel like I'm letting down some old faithfuls....victims of our own success but it's impossible to comment on 500 people a day. So as you say - more PP would be more stress and anyway it wasn't one of my best - but I'll be really sulky when I get something I REALLY like and it doesn't go on PP - childish I know but the family will be suffering!!!
January 17th, 2012
@judithg OK well as long as you don't take it out on us and Monty! I think there may be an anti-Archer parameter in the fomula anyway.
January 17th, 2012
geese are barely noticeable but this photo sure is beautiful.
January 17th, 2012
What a perfect little country bridge. Love the geese in the background.
