Work issues prevented me from going to Warren at lunch as planned, so I decided to head down to Bold Point for a quick "safety shot." On the way, I spotted this lone cyclist pedaling down the East Bay Bike Path in the pouring rain and thought it would make a great statement. I quickly pulled into the parking area and barely had my camera out as the drenched cyclist rounded the bend. Not having any time at all to setup or configure the camera for the conditions, the image is not as crisp as it should be. Still, I really like the image it portrays of the dedicated cyclist braving a cold, driving, January rain in New England.
Post processing was primarily focused on sharpening the image. I used several unsharp mask layers combined with a motion blur sharpening filter to get as much detail out of the cyclist as I could. Levels and saturation were slightly adjusted, and a warming filter was added. No textures were used since I really wanted to capture the authentic feel of the downpour.
