Abandoned Brick by kannafoot

Abandoned Brick

Today's weather was not overly conducive to photography. There was a very cold, driving mist with a touch of sleet when I went out for my shot at lunchtime. I also had a very short time for the photo, thanks to a couple of meetings sandwiched pretty close together. As a result, I had two criteria in mind for taking this shot. First, it had to be close to work, and second, it had to be something that could be shot through the open window of my car. What you see before you fit the bill perfectly. It's an abandoned building on Bullocks Point Avenue in East Providence. I love the texture in the brick, the colors in the door, and the hole in the boarded up window. There are a few more shots possible in this spot, so you'll probably see it come up again as the year passes.

Post processing started in Redynamix, my HDR filter. The effect came out a bit grainy, but I kind of liked the texture it added so I didn't remove it with Neat Image as I had planned to do. From there, I ran it through a "photo pop" filter in Topaz Adjust. A levels adjustment, and a hue and saturation adjustment were added, and I sharpened the image a bit using a high pass filter in soft light blend mode.
Lovely shot Ron! You can usually rely on HDR to perk up a bit of old brickwork. :)
