Power Nap by kannafoot

Power Nap

After some hard rain and a couple of thunderstorms this morning, the sun came out and the humidity skyrocketed. I swung by the Roger Williams National Memorial today for a photo. This woman had just finished her lunch and decided to use the bench for a quick power nap before returning to work. The park is becoming extremely popular with folks working in the local businesses. It's quite common to see the benches filled with business folks having lunch and working on their laptops.

I tried a different process for this black and white shot. First I replicated the background layer and desaturated it in PSE. I then took the desaturated image into Topaz Adjust and applied a mild contrast filter. I then adjusted the adaptive exposure and contrast sliders. I made a slight adjustment to strength and detail boost. Noise suppression was applied. Back in PSE, I did a levels adjustment followed by a brightness/contrast adjustment. The top layer is a sepia photo filter.
Nice street shot!

@victorypuzzle She most likely will! After I take street candids, I normally approach the person, tell them why I took their photo, and give them a business card that has my contact info as well as the URL of this project. (It keeps the candid nature of the shot but still deals with the ethical aspect of respecting someone's wishes regarding their own image.)

@shirljess Thanks, Shirley!

Love this. I'm always impressed when people aren't buried in their electronics.

Sometimes there is nothing like doing nothing! Pretty rare in this day and time!
