My method of selecting weekend photos typically starts with a browse through the "Things to Do" section of the Providence Journal Online. I'm always looking for a photo worthy event. As luck would have it, this morning I stumbled across a listing for a Guns Across America rally at the State House. This is an annual event, however quite timely this year since it comes at a time when our Constitutional Rights are being threatened in Washington. In this photo, you see attendees signing a petition to be sent to the Rhode Island Congressional delegation, expressing opposition to any legislation that would be in violation of the 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution. That is what prompted the caption for this shot, since these people are exercising their right to free speech in defense of their right to keep and bear arms.
Post processing started with a low contrast filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted the color sensitivity sliders, followed by adaptive exposure, contrast, protect highlights, boost black, and boost white. A brightness/contrast adjustment was added in PSE and I topped it all off with a sepia photo filter.
@tskipper He was security, so I guess it was his job to notice! The girl with the petition noticed as well, and was doing her best not to look at the camera. Enlarge the image, and you'll see her looking out of the corner of her eye. LOL
