It seems that the days I work from home rapidly turn into the days where I have the least amount of time available to get out for a photo. Today's photo plans were preempted just as I headed for the car, and with tonight's weather forecast turning south rapidly, I opted for a backyard safety shot. A 42-year old picket fence has amazing textures that make an interesting black and white background. I decided to photograph the little wooden feeder my dad uses to leave peanuts for the squirrels. (They have him well trained...) The ragged state of the pickets is a result of the aggressive way the squirrels defend those peanuts from each other. Sharing is definitely not in the rodent vocabulary.
Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders followed by adaptive exposure, boost black, boost white, and contrast. A levels adjustment and a sepia photo filter were added in PSE.
@irishblue LOL Me too. Unfortunately, it was poor planning on the part of my parents when their combined height resulted in someone that's only 5' 4". It was all I could do to be able to see the peanuts. ROFL
