On a whim, I decided to go to Haines Park in Barrington for today's photo. There wasn't much going on, and a took a number of safety shots of a few boats, a heron, and some crabs along the shoreline. Just as I was about to pack it in, this family arrived, and put their boat in the water. I photographed them climbing aboard and preparing to set out for an afternoon on the water. It was a lucky break since I really didn't want some static shots of the shoreline.
Post processing started with a neutral greyscale filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted adaptive exposure, regions, boost black, boost white, contrast, protect highlights, and color sensitivity sliders. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.
