Fresh Corn by kannafoot

Fresh Corn

I absolutely love this time of year. Football pre-season has started, liquor stores are starting to stock this fall's version of Oktoberfest beers, and native corn is available from sidewalk vendors throughout the state. The farm stand in today's photo is on Willett Avenue in East Providence. He's there every day from mid-August through mid-October selling fresh vegetables grown locally. This has been an outstanding year for native corn. It's sweeter than in past seasons, the kernels are full and plump, and the ears are firm and ripe. I've been buying enough to have fresh corn-on-the-cob at least 3 times a week. There's just no comparison to the super market brands that are imported from who-knows-where.

Post processing started with a brilliant warm filter in Topaz Adjust. I then adjusted adaptive exposure, contrast, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.

Here's the high res version in Smugmug: http://kannafoot.smugmug.com/Photo-Challenges/PAD2013/i-TrCjvH4/0/XL/2013%2008%2026_0014%20copy-XL.jpg
