For today's photo, I went to the tiny fishing village of Jerusalem at the mouth of the Point Judith Pond. Jerusalem and Galilee are both fishing villages in Narragansett, Rhode Island. They are separated by a narrow channel less than a football field in width, yet they have virtually nothing in common. Galilee, with its numerous shops, restaurants, and charter fishing companies, is as tourist-friendly as any community in the state. Parking abounds, both in paid lots and along the main roads that lead to the state's beaches. Jerusalem, on the other hand, goes out of its way to drive the visitor elsewhere. "Private Drive", "No Parking," and "No Trespassing" signs abound. All that's missing is a sign that reads, "Why are you still here?" I did manage to find one small section along the town dock that had a dozen spots for cars. Since it's a weekday after Labor Day, I was able to get a spot, and captured this photo of a guy fishing while his son repaired another line. It turns out that a boat passed by right after his first cast and tore his fishing line. From what I could gather from others fishing from the same dock, though, that would likely be his only catch of the day. Nobody was reporting any action at all in the water.
Post processing started with a sepia IV filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, boost black, boost white, and contrast. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.
