Risky Proposition

I stopped at Bold Point - one of my "safety shot" locations - on my way home from another insanely busy day at work. This not-quite-seaworthy rowboat caught my attention. The lines of the docks, the Washington Bridge, and the background boats provided an interesting background. While the color version was nice thanks to the low angle light from the setting sun, I fell in love with the interesting contrast in the black and white version. Of course, by now you must know that I'm partial to black and white to begin with...

Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, boost black, boost white, contrast, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.

Here's the high res version in Smugmug: http://kannafoot.smugmug.com/Photo-Challenges/PAD2013/i-XCNGFh4/0/XL/2013%2011%2014_0022%202%20copy-XL.jpg
That not-seaworthy rowboat in the foreground and on dry land contrasts so interestingly to all the boats in the water!

I love this in black and white too for all the same reasons that you said

I really like this one. You really have a knack for black and white.
