The Newport Bridge by kannafoot

The Newport Bridge

Well, the official name is the "Claiborne Pell Newport Bridge", named after the six-term US Senator from Rhode Island, but locals simply call it the "Newport Bridge." The bridge was built between 1966 and 1969 and ranks as the 80th longest suspension bridge in the world. (One would think you'd stop counting after 10, but hey, at least we're in the top 100!) The bridge connects Conanicut Island, comprised entirely of the city of Jamestown, with Aquidneck Island (Newport, Middletown, and Portsmouth.) This photo was taken from the Jamestown side. For those interested in night photography, the settings for this photo were as follows: Lens: Canon 35mm f/1.4L, ISO 400, f/8, 4-sec, exposure bias -1.75. The camera was on a tripod to accommodate the long exposure. White balance was adjusted to Tungsten in Camera RAW.

Post processing started with a brilliant cold filter in Topaz Adjust. I then adjusted adaptive exposure, contrast, and protect highlights. A cooling filter and a levels adjustment were added in PSE.

Here's the high res version in Smugmug: http://kannafoot.smugmug.com/Photo-Challenges/PAD2013/i-Ww5cWh5/0/XL/2013%2012%2003_0005%20copy-XL.jpg
Perfectly beautiful and perfectly photographed. I can't thank you enough for including the settings you used.
