Christmas Day Travel

I went downcity for today's photo, not quite sure what I would find. Driving past Burnside Park, I spotted a group of about 60 people with luggage standing on the sidewalk next to the Biltmore Hotel. That looked like it would make an interesting photo, so I swung around Kennedy Plaza and found a place to park in front of the old Train Station. Just as I arrived, this double-decker touring bus pulled up and they began loading their luggage. It turns out, this is Megabus, providing express service from Providence to New York City (about a 3 1/2 hour drive) for $24 one-way. Now that the Feng Wah Bus (also known as the Chinatown Bus) has been put out of service for safety reasons by the Department of Transportation, Megabus and Peter Pan (owned by Greyhound) are the only two bus lines that provide service to the Big Apple. Prices are comparable. Megabus is $24 one-way and Peter Pan is $25 one-way. Peter Pan is serviced out of Port Authority and is conveniently located next to the Theater District. Megabus drops you off at the corner of 28th and 7th while picking up on 34th between 11th and 12th Ave. None of their stops are sheltered, so in bad weather, Peter Pan is the better option.

Post processing started with a sepia I filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, boost white, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.

Here's the high res version in Smugmug: http://kannafoot.smugmug.com/Photo-Challenges/PAD2013/i-77bKwr8/0/XL/2013%2012%2025_0008%20copy-XL.jpg
I admire your faithfulness in setting out to town for a photo on this day. Happy holidays to you, Ron.
