I went downcity at lunch to squeeze in a bit of street photography before some sleet and freezing rain moved through the area. Crossing one of the parking lots on Water Street, I saw three Providence firefighters standing in the lot. The smell of smoke was strong in the air, but nothing appeared to be burning, and the three firefighters appeared to be a bit perplexed. The one in this photo was tentatively walking towards the far end of the lot where the department's supervisor was parked, but as you can see from her pose, she was in no hurry to get there. Shortly after this photo was taken, the three of them climbed back in the truck and returned to the fire station. It was a curious situation that called for a curious photo.
Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, boost white, and color sensitivity sliders. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.
