Beached Canoe

Beached Canoe

I went through Lincoln Woods State Park at lunch today, looking for photo opportunities. Driving by the boat launch strip, I noticed a fisherman in a canoe just offshore. Just as I pulled in, though, he beached his canoe and loaded his gear into his car. The scene I liked and photographed was when he went over to talk to another fisherman who had a couple of lines in the water along the shore. It turns out, neither of them had any luck today. According to him (and a couple of other fishermen) the only reports of catches were coming from the opposite end of the pond. Now, given that he was in a canoe, I'd think there would be a simple solution to the problem, but I guess a couple of fruitless hours on the water was enough for him.

Post processing started with a neutral greyscale filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, and boost black. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.

Here's the high res version in Smugmug: http://kannafoot.smugmug.com/Photo-Challenges/PAD2014/i-cbMxZZ5/0/XL/2014%2005%2006_0005%20copy-XL.jpg

A great capture! I agree with Junko, always love both seeing and reading about the story of each shot. Such a bummer about the fishing! x
