Mill Power Reflections

Central Falls, Rhode Island
Stripers - Striped Bass - have begun their spring migrations up the coastal rivers along the Rhode Island coast. What that also means is that they are chasing bait fish - typically menhaden - up those rivers. Fishermen typically line the rivers where the bait fish are schooling and, using small grappling hooks, they pull in the bait fish. From there they'll go to a good location to fish for stripers, using the bait fish they just snagged. What I had in mind for today's photo was to visit the dock on School Street in Pawtucket. There are normally a half-dozen or so fishermen snagging menhaden before heading out to catch stripers. There's only one tiny problem. It turns out, the entire dock area is under construction and it's closed to the public! So much for the photo I had in mind. Unsure where to head from there, I drove down Broad Street into Central Falls. This small building was part of the Blackstone Falls mill complex. I liked the reflections in the channel and decided this would make a good safety shot to compensate for the sudden change in plans.
Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, boost white, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.
