To Honor the Fallen

Providence, Rhode Island

It was a war that defined a generation; it was a war that divided a nation. 58,220 Americans made the ultimate sacrifice during the Vietnam War. Their names are inscribed on the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington, DC. 209 of those names are of soldiers that called Rhode Island home. Through this weekend, the Traveling Wall is setup at India Point Park in Providence. It is a 1/2-sized replica of the Washington wall and contains all 58,220 names. Admission is free and there is a booth setup to assist in finding the names of family and friends memorialized on the wall.

Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, and contrast. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.

Here's the high res version in Smugmug: http://kannafoot.smugmug.com/Photo-Challenges/PAD2014/i-dqjk7Vt/0/XL/2014%2006%2006_0008_1%20copy-XL.jpg
Such a beautiful and fitting memorial. I've heard a lot about this war recently so a memorial like this is lovely. x
