Providence, Rhode Island
This interesting geodesic dome was erected by art students from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) near the entrance to the Roger Williams National Memorial. The overall design represents the wigwams used for housing and shelter by the Narragansett and Wampanoag tribes through the 18th century. The metric system of measurement was used for the dimensions of the dome. (This was intended to symbolize the European settlers who arrived in this area in the 17th century, although those settlers primarily used the English system of measurement, and not the metric. In fact, the Metric System was not used at all until 1799 when it was temporarily introduced during the French Revolution.) The plants inside the dome are from Texas and Providence, symbolic of the harmony achieved by two diverse cultures under the safe haven of the dome, much as Providence was declared a safe haven of religious freedom under Roger Williams.
Post processing started with a neutral filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, boost white, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.
