The Main Course

I set out for Haines Point Park at lunch today, however I didn't get very far. Just as I pulled out of the parking lot where I work, a flock of wild turkeys landed on the side of the road. Naturally, I stopped for photos. This fierce looking turkey paced between me and the rest of the flock, shadowing my every move. I'm assuming this is the tom, but I've never tried my hand at turkey gender identification. The behavior, though, was definitely one of standing guard. Now, for my non-US based friends, the caption is a reminder that turkey is traditionally the main course in next month's Thanksgiving holiday dinner. This flock would do well to make themselves scarce until after Christmas!
Post processing started with a neutral filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, boost white, protect highlights, and details. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.
