Milestone
17 October 2014 -- 290/365
Lincoln, Rhode Island
As seems to be typical on Fridays, I once again went to Lincoln Woods State Park at lunch for today's photo. I've been trying to figure out how to work these milestone markers into a photo since they're new to the park this season. Finally, today, I spotted a scene I liked. The leaves on the road and the shadows from the trees did it for me. The markers are located in somewhat odd locations. This park hosts a 5K road race every year, and back in my racing days, it used to host a 5-mile race. (Ran my personal best on this course, in fact!) What puzzles me, though, is that these milestone markers don't align with the starting line for the road races. It would have made sense for them to do so.
Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, boost white, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.
