@kimmiesue Thanks Kim! I wasn't paying attention to the background because I was so focused on trying not to scare him away! I just brought up the temperature and saturation a bit when I processed it and really liked the results. Not a bad shot for my little Canon p&s. @mrssmith Thanks Carla! I was excited to get it. Had my camera set on rapid fire just in case I wasn't quick enough on my own. @kerristephens Thanks Kerri!
@woot Thanks Davide! I live in a wooded area, so what you see in the background is the sky, tree trunks and some brownish orange leaves that refuse to let go of their branches. I had my camera set on 400 ISO and the exposure set slightly higher because the bird and the feeder were in a shadow. In the post processing I brought up the temperature and saturation of the color. It gave the overexposed aspect of the sky a creamier color which was a nice compliment to the black cap of the bird.
@cimes1 lol Carole- it wasn't intentional. I had another picture that I was going to put up and then this little guy landed on the bird feeder. It was meant to be be be. @woot You're welcome Davide- any time! @httpgeffed Thanks Colleen. Yes- one of my two favorites (Goldfinches are the other). @digitalrn Well, I'm a Mary Poppins sort of worker- just a spoon full of sugar- along with a good dose of the 7 dwarves- whistle while you work. I just let the Chickadee do the whistling. @nicolecampbell Thanks Nicole! I had already put together a different shot from our trip to Michigan, but when he landed on the bird feeder, it was a better shot for the day.
@dmariewms Thank you Marie! This type of shot is not the easiest to catch with my little camera because the birds get fidgety when I'm trying to get closer and closer!
@lisjam1 Thanks Lisa! And thanks to your fantastic city for hosting a great Super Bowl! I read an article yesterday from Giants fans saying how much they enjoyed the activities, layout and overall warm welcome they received.
@kloud Thank you Bonnie- I am always so excited when I get a good bird shot with the p & s. The newer camera should be able to take these kinds of shots easily, but it keeps doing that weird focusing thing and until I figure it out, I'm back to my first camera of the project. I'm not too disappointed though. I actually think the Canon takes better macros!
