Although I came here to be with my ailing father, there have been a few bright spots as well. Today my niece graduated from college and after the ceremony my brother-in-law thought it would be fun to stop at "Emily's Bridge" a little covered bridge that is supposedly haunted by a heart-broken spirit. We didn't see Emily, but I did see some nice shots of the bridge (and took them!).
I am trying a new method of uploading since I can't store my pictures in my niece's computer. If I'm unable to process them the way I'm accustomed, I'll have to "fix" them when I get home. So, if my shots over the next week or two seem of lower quality than usual, that's why.
Great capture and symbolism. Your niece graduating from college, crossing the a bridge so to speak, leaving one part of her young life behind and embracing a new life after graduation.
@ellimae Thank you Ellen! I was so touched by my brother-in-law's enthusiasm. He was really excited to show it to me and had such fun telling me about how he and his brother stayed on the bridge all night one Halloween in hopes of seeing Emily looking for her fiance who died fighting a war.
@olivetreeann Awwwwhh How sweet! I am glad you had the time to spend with your relatives...it ment alot to see all of mine when i was with my Dad! I hope the rest of your stay is full of photo oppertunities! you can always edit later!!
hmmm...it looks different now than a few minutes ago. anyway, i love covered bridges. i've not seen any at all here in ontario but believe there is one or two somewhere i yet have to discover. it looks wintry, the trees doesn't seem to have any leaves. but sepia is a better choice for this one. i like it.
@rhubbard Wow Rich- you're right and I hadn't even thought about that! Thanks! @elliemae I know it meant a lot to my niece that I was here. And yes, I've got plenty of photo opps ahead. And I just figured out how to edit the pictures on Picmonkey thru 365 so I'm set!! @summerfield Thanks Vikki- yes it looks different because I figured out how to edit it as I usually do in Picmonkey without having to save it on my niece's computer. I feel so proud of myself!! @pandorasecho Yes, Dixie- it really adds a bit of spice to the bridge! @kerristephens Thanks Kerri! @karenann Thanks Karenann!
@bkbinthecity Thanks Brian! What is so odd is that several of them were destroyed when Irene blew through last year. There was so much flooding they were washed out.
Hi Ann! I love covered bridges, they always seem kind of nostalgic, mysterious, and magical! I think this photo turned out well as it has a haunted feel to it!
I have pictures of this bridge from years ago before I had a digital camera... I went at night! I love this bridge. It's one of my favorites. I'm so glad the flood we had didn't destroy it. Excellent processing on this picture! Great job!
@lyno Thanks Lyn! My brother-in-law cannot wait for me to get back to Vt. He's found more for me to photograph! And I don't know if you know "Mrs. Smith" who's posted just above but she takes wonderful pictures of round barns and covered bridges- click on her picture and it should take you to her home page where you can check them out.
