The handmade pillow my older son made in 8th grade for an art class won out in the star category today. I can't believe the boy who made this pillow is now a husband and the father of three beautiful children! He liked sewing this project and did a good job for an eighth grader. When he moved on to college, I adopted it and it's been in my spare room ever since. Someday I will pass this on to his son as a keepsake.
@kerristephens Thanks Kerri! @maggiemae Thank you Maggie! He even kept it up for a while- loved using the sewing machine, but then other interests took over. But at least he knows how to handle a needle! @ambermagen Thank you Amber! @kimmistephens Thank you Kimmi! @wenbow Thanks Wendy! @lyno Thanks Lyn- I do love having those memories because they are good ones! @digitalrn Thanks Rick! @httpgeffed Thanks Colleen!
That is so neat! What a great way to remember the boy who's now grown. When one of my sons was 11, he did counted cross stitch--only instead of a sampler, he stitched fishing lures and battleships!
@groovygirlrn Thanks Sheri! He is very creative, but I think this was a kit. However, he did go on to art school and loves to work with his hands. He's the most creative mason you will ever meet! And he doesn't need kits anymore- lol. @filsie65 Thank you Phil- they're all the more precious now that he has children of his own! @la_photographic Thanks Laura! @alia_801 Thanks Alia- just good ol' "posterize". @salza Thanks Sally! I'm sure it will. I'm pretty certain that his son will love having it someday- they are already two peas in a pod!
@sangwann Thanks Dione! @twinsplusone Thanks Sharon! I was looking for a pov that featured the stars more than the stripes and I thought the posterize effect really highlighted the hand-stitched aspect of it all. @mrssmith Thank you Carla!

Thank you Carole!
Thank you Vickie!
I chose to use the posterize effect on this shot because I felt it highlighted the hand-stitched aspect of the pillow. I'm glad you liked it.
And a great keepsake it is. he was very creative..I bet his kids will love it when the time comes.
I have joined you in this challenge and posted my first picture of a star but don't remember and forgot to write down what comes next over the following days..can you please me where I would find the list?
@beachradish Why, thank you Beachradish! When I took the picture I was thinking that I would process it in a way to emphasize the hand-stitched aspect of it. @summerfield Well, not that many on this pillow- there's only 3! And my son made it in 1993!

@bruni Thanks Bruni! Over the next week we're doing the colors of the rainbow. Here's the link for the post: http://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/13208/july-thumbnail-challenge. I think Alia did a great job putting it together and when the month is done, the calendar will look really cool!
