Red is any number of similar colors evoked by light consisting predominantly of the longest wave lengths discernible by the human eye. Longer wave lengths are called infrared and cannot be seen by the human eye, although they can be sensed as heat. Red comes in handy for a number of idioms: Seeing red, red-faced, paint the town red, raise a red flag, to be in the red, a red-letter day, roll out the red carpet, to catch someone red-handed, and to tie something up in red tape, just to name a few!
Red rag to a bull! Red Herring! Great stuff!

A sense of protection from fears and anxiety
Beautiful shade of red and texture! Love your pov and lighting. Immediately reminded me of our weather here ... very hot and intense. (And seems like the a/c runs all day lately!)
you captured the red of the plate quite well. it reminded me of those old depression glassware popular in the first half of the last century (can you believe it, i write like i'm a hundred years old! 'last century' hahaha!). brilliant!
@maggiemae Love your additions Maggie! Thanks!! @kerristephens Thanks Kerri! @lesphoto Thanks Leslie! I'm not sure where they were coming from. They were stronger in other shots, but I liked this one the best. I know some might edit them out, but I liked the accent as you did. @karenann Thanks Karenann! Thanks to a quick rain shower on Sunday, we had some "cooler" temps today but it was still pretty hot. @wenbow Thanks Wendy! @httpgeffed Thanks Colleen! Yes, it is. It's a red glass plate my daughter-in-law gave me for Christmas a few years ago. It sits in my front window along with some other glass pieces who will be appearing as the rainbow progresses. @mrssmith Thanks Carla! @lyno Thanks Leslie! I know someone may prefer to edit them out, but I liked the accent they brought to the picture. @dmariewms Thanks Marie- this plate sits on my windowsill in the front of my house. I love the way light comes through glass.
@summerfield Yes, I think it was styled that way on purpose, but it's not depression glass; there is a name imprinted on the back that's just not showing in this portion. lol I can sound like that too! I'm always wondering who's talking when I hear "When I was a little girl we didn't have those" and then I realize it's me!!
This is an awesome shot for the challenge Ann i am glad we are doing it together again! I had a few reds for today but when with the pistons on the pink hibiscus! although i didnt fill in the whole thumbnail like you did i tried to make the red stand out the best i could..i hope to do better tomorrow on Orange!! lol Great Capture and discription of " Red"! Love it!
@la_photographic Thank you Laura! @allie912 Thank you Allison! (Sometimes it's more challenging to think of something to write about these pictures than it is to find something to shoot!)
