Last of the over-exposed shots. Decided to go the whole 9 yards with this one by not only shooting it over exposed but also processing it to be over exposed. I think I really should have called it Over Exposed Overkill!
Very mysterious! Good job on your challenge. I think it's helpful to take it to the limit sometimes. That way you know the range of what is possible and how you might use the effect to your advantage in another situation.
Your comments really made me chuckle. I had originally taken a completely different shot for yesterday but when I uploaded the picture and processed it, I just didn't like it so into the discard pile it went! I pulled this one up and decided to give it a go. Who knew it would appeal to so many!
@cimes1 Thanks Carole! Yes, I guess in the processing I thought it'd be fun to make it as abstract as possible. It's just the drain my bathroom sink. The sink is a peach color (I did not nor would I choose this color for a bathroom but it's not hideous and it came with the house!) with a silver drain. Of course I took the shot in b/w so you can't tell what color it is. I had all the lights on and then over exposed the shot while water was going down the drain- tap turned off. In the processing portion I bumped up the exposure some more and then ran the picture through the adjustable threshhold effect as well, once again, bumping up the exposure. I then painted back in a very faint portion of the drain (which after all that over exposing had all but disappeared except for the crescent shadow where the drain cap sits over the actual drain) and just a bit of the water around the drain. Added a Reflection frame in the lightest silver/white/gray and that was the end of that!
Thank you Henri, Phil, Laraine, Ruth, Bruni and Kathryn! It wasn't too much work Bruni- just a matter of sliding the percentages back and forth until I got the amount of white that I wanted.
@tanja_1211 thanks Tanja! @summerfield thanks Vikki- lol a petrie dish?! @prttblues thanks Bev! @primitiveprobe thanks Andreas! I have tried to capture water bubbles in the sink and failed at that too. This time the water was just draining. I don't know why the camera preferred that but it did and gave me more detail.
