Heading home from my errands yesterday as the Catholic High School was dismissing for the day provided me with another "sneaky peek".
My apologies for the necessity to over process this shot. I played around with several version that had minimal effects, but you could still see the faces of these students better than I had hoped for, so I resorted to running it through the HDR effect which took away the details in their faces. LOL I would not make a good spy- the last fellow totally saw me taking the shot, even though I pretended to be checking something on my camera while stopped at the red light (hence the cock-eyed pov too)!
@fullcircle Thank you Cindy! @henrir Thank you Henri! @automaticslim Thanks Andy! lol It's kinda funky looking, but I think I like the tilt too. @naomi Thank you Naomi! @daisy Thanks Kathryn!
@maggiemae Thanks Maggie! Yes, I was in the car at a stop light which was red and there was a crossing guard as well so that if the boys didn't get across before the light change, the motorists wouldn't go. But I was at a full stop and that's part of my windsheild wiper you can see on the window there.
@summerfield Thank you Vikki! I hadn't really planned to edit it, but you could clearly see their faces and I needed to "erase" their identity! @pflaume Thank you Lisa! Not really- the third fellow saw me with the camera and had his eye on me the whole time even though I pretended to be checking something in the camera!
@olivetreeann - but that's how you do it, you pretend you're checking the camera, or you look up so they'd think you were shooting at something else. :-)
I think this is kind of cool, but it made me wonder - is that a personal philosophy about not posting strangers? So many people do, but I have mixed feeling about doing it myself, so I'm curious. Plus, I'm just plain chicken to take photos of strangers.
I have taken some sneaky shots lately, not sure whether to post them or not. I hate being seen taking these shots. This one is great and the HDR made them less reckonizable.
@lauriehiggins Thanks Laurie! I don't have a problem posting photos of strangers per se, but these were students at a high school and I figured just to be safe I should not have their faces easily identifiable. There is probably a balance in there where if someone sees you taking the shot and seems to mind, it might be best to get their permission or blur the face. But for the most part, when you're out in public, one should expect to be seen! I am not brave enough to walk into a crowd and just start taking photos, but in the safety of my car, at a stop light, under the pretense of not "really taking your picture" act, I'll fire off a picture or two! I guess my rule of thumb is trust your common sense and conscience when taking pictures in public of people you don't know.
@tanja_1211 Thanks Tanja- oh the third boy totally figured out I was taking a picture (the one facing the car), but he didn't seem to mind and kept walking. @bkbinthecity Thanks Brian! @prttblues Thanks Bev! The one boy who's looking at the car did figure out I was taking a shot, but he didn't really seem to care and just kept walking. But he definitely knew! @alia_801 Thanks Alia! lol I used to be able to sneak up on my sons when they were about to get in trouble without them even knowing I was there. Somehow I lost my touch! @sangwann Thanks Dione! I don't really have a problem with posting sneaky shots of adults- but since these folks were students, I just thought I'd use a little precaution and make the faces less distinguishable. @cimes1 Thanks Carole! The angle was really more from it being a "quick" shot than anything else, but I do like it. @demmie Thanks Demmie- I think it's called Tri-X or something like that. It was a real stark black and white film. @eniaral Thanks Laraine! @salza Thanks Sally! @nadaa Thanks Nada! lol Abbey Road- The Poconos version! @netkonnexion Thanks Damon!
@edie Thanks Edie! The opportunity presented itself and thankfully I got the camera up in time- but then the last boy saw me, so I ended up acting like I was checking something. lol I don't think he bought the act!
It's refreshing to see a teen aware of his environment and actually engaging a suspicious person. If this had been elementary school kids there would have been a flash email sent to all parents to watch out for a suspicious person in a xxx make and model of car. Which is too bad because kids are a window of incense. We could all use more images of them. Thanks for this shot.
@sgiesman Thank you Sarah! Yes, it's sad world when we have to be so careful and wary about what we do around children that way. But I'd rather be overprotective than not protective at all. @top2042 Thanks Top2042!
