I'm still swapping dates around with the Me March challege. Today I'm posting a shot for "Somewhere I Go to do Something Particular" I had to pick up a few things from the supermarket today so I decided to take advantage of the opportunity and post a shot for this phrase. I go to Weis markets to do my food shopping, not to mention capture a few pictures too.
@summerfield Thanks Vikki! No trick- for some reason most of my vertical shots load in horizontally and I have to edit them in Picmonkey and turn them the right way. Also- this one is color. I put it in HDR so perhaps that's why it looks a bit like selective coloring. But in reality it's a color shot.
As long as you are not upside down, @summerfield, we can handle it! There are so many shots in a supermarket to take! I like this one as it is so uniform!
Nice shot! Very creative way to get the carts. I like how they are all lined up and the red handles decrease in size as the carts continue on. Very well done, Ann! :)
@taffy Thanks Taffy! Yes- the hdr really changed the way it looked. In the original you could tell it was a color shot from the start. But the hdr brought out the gray and made the red bolder so that it appeared more as a selective color process than hdr. But you can still see a hint of yellow in the upper left hand corner which gives away the fact that it is truly a color shot.
@prttblues Thanks Bev! I think this stock boy may be a bit OCD because they were very neatly stacked! And I think these are new. They don't have any dings or stickers on the plastic parts yet and are not dusty like they usually are just from people using them and being out in the parking lot before they are collected and brought inside. @inertie Thank you Pinar! I think it is not so much that you push your carts slower as it is for our culture to blame anyone else for their lack of attention. When my mother took us shopping I remember we had to stay right beside her, or we were not to move around in the cart. Sometimes in the stores I see parents who are too busy talking on their cell phones to pay attention to the child! All it takes is a little slip and the child gets hurt. Then the parent sues the store for not having something to strap the child into the cart. I say, just pay attention to your child! It's not the store's responsibility! But we live in a culture that often blames every one else for their own stupidity and lack of common sense.
@alia_801 Thanks Alia! The hdr really brought out the color contrast. @gerry Thanks Gerry! @cimes1 Thanks Carole! I do like this one- and many of the newer ones. They have a very open and airy feel to them and lots of light. @digitalrn Thanks Rick! Yes, you'd be familiar with this chain since it's PA based! @sangwann Thanks Dione!
@jesperani Thanks Jennifer! The processing really brought that out. @ididntdoit87 Thanks Hillary! @ruthmouch Thanks Ruth! @jplovescotton Thanks Janice! I can always use the help getting things from the shelves- glad to have you along!
@lfrans Thank you Liane! @taffy Thanks for asking Taffy! I have a very simple point and shoot Canon- probably the low end of the scale as I've seen other 365ers who have Powershots that take far better pictures than mine can. But it does have its sweet spots as I've learned. I don't know if I could do multiple shots and layer them as a true HDR, but I do like the "Advanced HDR" effect that iPiccy has (free on-line processing site) and it seems to mimic the real thing quite well. So that's what this is. iPiccy.com
@tklein Thank you Tina! You may not have Weis, but you have Piggly Wiggly's right? Or was that just something I saw in a movie? @taffy Always happy to share what I know- what little that is!! @eniaral Thanks Laraine- you do too! @dakotaburns Thanks Donald! I think it has to do with pattern and symmetry. And for me personally- I like anything you can put away neatly! lol @mrssmith Thank you Carla!
@tanja_1211 lol Tanja! My husband has been home this week with no work, so I was happy to get away for a while! Actually I enjoy food shopping. I get some pretty good thinking done there!
@olivetreeann when I saw the photo it just popped in my mind "fast cart driving shopping momas".. hilarious.. =).. we don't have these straps here.. at least I haven't seen any.. and I don't know how or if we manage the kids stay in this kid section of the carts..I myself was paranoid obsessive about these.. kept an eye on them.. I agree that the cell phones are very distractive.. and causes many accidents.. everyone seems absorbed by their phones nowadays..
Like the row of carts especially with the bright red handles. this shot reminds me of a picture I saw recently..might have to dig it up and post it. you would enjoy see it.
@bruni Thank you Bruni! I am not the first to shoot shopping carts like this but what really caught my eye on this day was the fact that they were new ones! They're a little bit smaller than the old ones- but the wheels all go in the same direction! lol
@maggiemae Thaks Maggie!
