Ice in the Flower Pot by olivetreeann

Ice in the Flower Pot

I was putting a few things away for the winter today (until the sun went away!) and made an unsettling discovery- ice! Now, believe me, with my arthritis being as bad as it is this week, I was well aware that it was cold- but this cold?! I was hoping it could wait a little while longer.

(In case you're wondering- I have a pot that has a built in over-flow system which is where this water had settled and frozen when the temperature went down.)
Nice capture of the ice - but it sounds like it is pretty unwelcome there!

Freezing temperatures already! My gosh. We still enjoy 20 degree temperatures here - sunny and lovely except when we have showers.

Wow Ann that is some ice there I read some where that the Uk will be due to have a Winter like it was back in 1947 just out of intrest I may google it .

I hear the weekend is to be a bit colder. I too am not ready quite yet, ah, I will never be ready for cold.

Brrr. Makes a nice abstract.

Oh am I so pleased to be in the southern hemisphere right now. I'd much rather be moaning about the 40C temperatures that are forecast this weekend!

Neat patterns and designs here though. We got our first measurable snow (snow!) today.

I'm not ready for winter.

Pretty capture of the ice. I am not ready for the cold either.

@alia_801 Thanks Alia! It's not really cold enough for it in the daytime- but it's been getting pretty cold at night, but I didn't think cold enough to freeze water- yikes!
@sangwann Thanks Dione! I think it's only been REALLY cold one or two days, ultra mild one or two days and the rest the average chill- but this proves me wrong!
@gerry Thanks Gerry! I have been hearing that it will be a cold winter here as well.
@digitalrn Thanks Rick! I don't think I'll ever be ready for it now either!
@kerristephens Thank you Kerri!
@pennyp Thanks Penny! LOL I have plenty of other things to take abstracts of- Mother Nature can keep the ice!
@salza Thank you Sally! If I was a wealthy woman, I'd hop on a plane and come visit you for the winter!
@archaeofrog Thanks Katie! I think that is my silver lining- no snow... yet.
@mrssmith203 Thanks Carla! Neither am I!!
@daisy Thanks Kathryn! Neither am I!

Well spotted. I like that you can see the colours of the background through the ice. I hope you are feeling better soon. x

@nicolecampbell Thank you Nicole! Well, it's going to be a long winter- and apparently a cold one too. There's not much you can do except eat things that don't inflame the joints (like staying away from tomatoes) and using ointments that relieve them. But arthritis is pretty much a permanent condition and you just have to learn how to live with it if you prefer to go the "natural" root as I do instead of medication. Thank you for your thoughtfulness!
@twr Thanks Timothy!

This is a pretty cool shot. Love the abstract wavy look of the ice.

@edie Thanks Edie! It's a pretty handy pot- never having to worry about overwatering. But I had never thought that the water would freeze in there. That was my first thought too- cool wavy lines, now where's my camera?

The formation of the ice looks really neat. I had an ice cube melt in a glass and the last little bit after I watered my orchids with the cold water looked like a boot to me..so, yes I took a picture of it too. will upload tomorrow

@bruni Thanks Bruni! I didn't realize it had gotten cold enough for the water to freeze but I should have known. If it's not too rainy tomorrow I have to put some of my flower pots away. I just haven't felt like doing it.

brrrr! i can't stand the cold anymore. is it spring yet?
November 26th, 2013
@summerfield Forget Spring- let's go to summer!! (Just not the late summer when it's hot, humid and hazy!)
