Mother's Day was special for me this year since I was actually in Vermont where my mother is buried. I had bought this hanging plaque a few weeks ago and brought it up to the grave sight after church. Carnations were given out that morning so I thought it would be nice to place them on the gravestone too. The plaque reads: God has you in His hands; we have you in our hearts. I really focus more on the life of my mother rather than her "final resting place" but it was tremendously significant to me that I could be here to honor her this year. Little did I know what was going to take place that night and the next day. Yet, it really seems to me that it was all in God's plan and that death is not the end of a person, so for me there is comfort in that.
i've looked at this earlier and i just got all teary eyed. i think that some alien forces passed by our little planet that all these unfortunate and sad events are happening. this is a lovely shot. i'm not sad for it, it just made me remember my own mother whose company i briefly enjoyed. some of you are lucky to have enjoyed your mother, shopping with her, cooking with her, or just talking to her. beautiful times, weren't they?
@filsie65 Thank you Phil. Yes, there's violets (and some grass that really needs to be weeded out!), Lily of the Valley, Sedum (I think that's what it was called) and Brown-eyed Susans planted there. I put things in that don't need a lot of tlc since I'm not there very much and the family that lives in the area is not the gardening kind! @sarah19 Thank you so much Sarah! @beachradish thank you very much Beachradish! @karenann Thanks Karenann- I truly appreciate your loving support. @bkbinthecity Thank you Brian! @httpgeffed Thank you so much Colleen!
Thank you all so much for your encouragement. The 365 community has been an anchor for me through this time! I can't tell you how grateful I am for that.
@summerfield I do feel that my time with my mother was too short- she died at age 53. My younger son was an infant and my older son vaguely remembers her. She absolutely loved being a grandmother. Since then 3 more grandchildren have arrived and 5 great grandchildren. She would have been on cloud 9! In my understanding, death was never meant to be a part of life, so God's heart aches as much as ours when someone dies. But I do know that in a way, they live on, not only in our memories but in the way pieces of them show up in their descendants. Gone, but not forgotten is truly an appropriate phrase. And I'm thankful for the time I did have- with both of my parents. @vposey Thank you Vickie! Amen! @sangwann Thank you Dione! That is very kind of you to say! @digitalrn Thank you Rick! I really don't know how people make it through loss without the hope of eternal life. It's a mystery to me. Thank you for a lovely reminder that life goes on- here and beyond.
