A Pair of Firetrucks for MaryBeth by olivetreeann

A Pair of Firetrucks for MaryBeth

While walking through Boston one day we came upon this scene and of course I knew I MUST take a picture for MaryBeth ( @espyetta ). Unfortunately I could not get the number for you MaryBeth. Nor could I get it the night the firetruck came past the house for some sort of emergency two houses down. But I did get the "pretty lights" as Cloe called them while we watched to see if the neighbors were alright. I decided to look for a poem about firetrucks on line today to accompany my little collage. This one was written by the Australian poet, Graeme King.

Firetruck

I’m a fire truck, brave and red,
I’m the best, the fire chief said,
Ready at all times, day and night,
Steady and red and ready to fight.

Hear my siren, stand aside,
Firemen jump on, speedy ride,
Through the city, crowds all stare
Heroes, here goes – we’ll be there!

Big red lights they flash and say:
Fire truck – Danger – Out of the way!
Engine revving, big tires hum,
Hear my loud bell, here I come!

Billowed smoke, a life to save,
Hydrants, hoses, firemen brave,
Water pouring, ladders climb,
Just a night’s work – Just in time!

I’m a fire truck, here for you,
Always ready, needs are few,
Tires and fuel, I’m tireless, clean,
Big red fire truck, your machine.

@kerristephens Thanks Kerri!
@mrssmith Thanks Carla- I guess so because even the firemen were nonchalantly walking around while they packed up the hoses. No one seemed to be upset or concerned and even the passersby barely gave it a glance!
@henrir Thanks Henri!
@groovygirlrn Thanks Sheri!
@httpgeffed Thanks Colleen- yes I saw your fire engine shot! When the first one went by in our neighborhood I was standing with our neighbor and watching from a distance. Suddenly I thought of MaryBeth and said, "I've got to go get my camera" and she said, "Oh taking a picture for 365 are you?!" How about that, I've got a reputation!
@wenbow Thanks Ed!! I'm glad you like my firetruck. Tell Mum I said thank you too!
@daisy Thanks Kathryn. The night shot is not as good, but my little camera really takes lousy flash shots when it comes to night photography, so I try not to use the flash- but that generally means pushing the ISO as high as it will go and hoping the camera will not pick up my movement!
@prttblues Thanks Bev! If you want to have some fun, go to website and listen to the author read his poem. He has a cool Australian accent.

@kandernob thanks Karen!
@espyetta thanks MaryBeth- especially for the fav (you're too funny!). I honestly did take these shots just for you. I so wanted to go ask the firemen in Boston if I could take a few close-ups of the engine, but my traveling friend was getting impatient! I guess stopping every other minute for a picture is not her idea of sight seeing! lol And finding that poem was icing on the cake.

@sangwann Thanks Dione!

@olivetreeann That is MY idea of sight seeing!lol! Thanks for going to all that trouble for the shot!

partner and your traveling friend have the same attitude about sightseeting. hello, that is why it is called sightseeing! hahaha! one day, i swear i'll get into a car and drive for as long as i can and stopping at every whim. i got a pic of a firetruck too for MB but never got around to posting them.

@summerfield lol Vikki- if we ever meet up (and I'm still hoping we can do that sometime) whether we drive or walk around a block, we'll do that! Dianne was somewhat patient, but on the fourth day she commented, "I had no idea you took this many pictures!". I took that as a hint. In a way it was good though. I took over 1500 pictures on this trip. Can you imagine how many I would have had to sort through if I'd been able to stop every time I saw something????!!!
