Our photo club took advantage of an open house at the historical Marie Zimmerman farm on Saturday. The property is really beautiful and of course I found lots of interesting things to take pictures of, but before I show you all those shots of rust and broken windows that you know I love to take I thought I'd show you one of the buildings.
Stones like these were also used in building the house and they're quite beautiful. I wish I'd brought my wide-angle lens for this structure as it is actually in two parts- this part is where the horses were housed and the other part, mostly wood, was used for chickens and assorted farm machinery. It's a massive structure that I couldn't capture with my small lens!
Excellent capture of this stone building. Love the patterns and textures. I had to Google to find out about Marie Zimmerman, she sounds like she was a most interesting person.
Thank you all for your views and comments- I'm making a quick stop here tonight as we're celebrating our anniversary. I'll be back tomorrow to catch up with you.
fantastic looking building - it's a interesting mix to my eyes as the building shape and doors read stable, but those huge stones read stately home or church
@shannejw yes, I can see what you mean! The house, which is not too far down the road from the barn is made out of the same stone. I believe they were all dug up right from the land. The soil here is very rocky. Thanks Shanne!
